A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Contagious Diseases Act, 1869," it is, amongst other things, enacted that the said Act shall extend and apply to such districts as the Governor shall from time to time, by Proclamation published in the New Zealand Gazette, declare to be subject to the provisions thereof, and the limits of such districts shall, for the purposes of the said Act, be such as are defined in such Proclamation: And whereas it hath been represented to me that it is expedient that the district hereinafter described should be declared to be subject to the said Act as hereinafter mentioned:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the day of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, all that district within the Province of Canterbury, in the said Colony, which is hereinafter particularly defined, shall be subject to the provisions of the said Act: And in further pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, I do hereby define the limits of the said district for the purposes of the said Act, as follows:β
