Commencing at the north-east corner of section 76; thence south-easterly in a straight line along the road to where the straight line will meet the Dyer’s Pass Road; thence in a straight line to the southern corner of section 1944; thence by the south-western boundary of that section to the public road; thence by a straight line to the south-west corner of section 141; thence by the western boundary of said section to the section 346; thence by western boundaries of 346 Reserve 92, to south-east corner of Reserve 106; thence easterly in a straight line to the Riccarton Railway Station; thence by the Railway to the northern boundary of section 128; thence north-easterly by north-western boundaries of sections 128 and 118 to the east boundary of section 118; thence by that boundary in a south-easterly direction to the Lincoln Road; thence south-westerly by the Lincoln Road to a point due north-west of the commencing point; thence by a straight line to the commencing point.

PROCLAMATION

By his Honor William Rolleston, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, altering the boundaries of Educational Districts.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, intituled “The Education Ordinance, 1871,” it is amongst other things provided that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury for the time being, from time to time to change or alter the boundaries of any and every Educational District proclaimed under the authority of the said Ordinance:

And whereas by Proclamations bearing date respectively the 7th day of September, 1871, the 1st day of December, 1871, and the 9th day of January, 1872, the undermentioned districts were constituted Educational Districts under the provisions of the said Ordinance, viz.:—Lincoln, Broadfield, Heathcote Valley, Harewood Road, New Brighton, Papanui, Waltham, Lower Heathcote; and whereas it is desirable to alter the boundaries of the said districts:

Now therefore, I, William Rolleston, Superintendent of the Province aforesaid, do hereby, in pursuance of the powers so vested in me, proclaim that the boundaries of the said Educational Districts shall be as follows:—

LINCOLN DISTRICT.

Commencing at a point on Shand’s Road, the same being the north-western corner of section 3655; thence by the south-western boundaries of that section and sections 3678, 3665, 3200, 3187, 3203, 3209, 3210, 3676, 3184, to the north-western corner of section 216; thence by the south-western boundaries of that section and sections 4031, 4946, 3257, 3189, and 2725, to the south-eastern corner of section 2725; thence southerly by the Springs Road to the south-western corner of section 2937; thence easterly by the southern boundaries of sections 2937 and 6306, to the north-western corner of 7644; thence by the northern boundaries of that section and sections 6873, 6288, 6134, 6072, 5841, and 5747, to the northernmost corner of the latter section; thence southerly by the eastern boundary of that section to its southern corner; thence easterly by the southern boundary of section 4821 to the River Halswell; thence north-easterly by the River Halswell and the creek forming the eastern boundary of section 1882 to the north-eastern corner of section 2968; thence in a straight line to the north-eastern corner of section 2490; thence westerly along the northern boundary of that section to its northern corner; thence northerly by the western boundary of section 2491 to its northern corner; thence by the northern boundaries of sections 2839, 2821, and following Ladbrook’s Road to the north-east corner of section 200; thence southerly by the eastern boundary of that section to its southern corner; thence westerly by the north-eastern boundary of section 2955 to its northern corner; thence southerly by the eastern boundaries of sections 8126, 3644, 2804, to the southern corner of that section; thence by the eastern boundary of that section to the starting point.

BROADFIELD DISTRICT.

Commencing at the north-east corner of section 2702 on the Springs Road; thence southerly along that road to the Halswell Road; thence to the north-east corner of section 200; thence southerly by the eastern boundary of the said section to its south-east corner; thence westerly by the southern boundary of the said section in a straight line to the south-east corner of section 4820; thence southerly by the eastern boundaries of sections 3126, 3644, 2804, to the south-east corner of section 2804; thence westerly in a straight line by the southern boundary of the said section to the south-east corner of section 3758; thence southerly by a straight line bounding sections 4731, 3333, to the south-east corner of the last-named section; thence by the southern boundaries of the said section and sections 3704.
