PURSUANT to the provisions of the Auctioneers’ Ordinance, Session III., No. 3, I hereby give notice that the undermentioned person has taken out an Auctioneer’s License for the term ending 30th June, 1872:

No person shall fish in the River Avon, between the East Boundary of the City of Christchurch and New Brighton, and any person infringing this Regulation shall be liable to a penalty of Fifty Pounds, or to such portion only of such penalty as the Justices before whom such penalty is sought to be recovered shall think fit.

This Regulation shall not apply to the catching of Whitebait with nets.

Order in Council at the Provincial Government Buildings, Christchurch, the 12th day of October, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled "The Salmon and Trout Act, 1867," it is among other things enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor, from time to time, as may become necessary, to make such regulations as to the Governor seems expedient, for prohibiting or restricting from time to time for any period which the Governor thinks necessary, fishing in any river or stream in which young salmon, salmon fry, or spawn, or young trout, trout fry, or spawn is placed or deposited, or at the mouth or entrance of any such river or stream:

And whereas by Section 12 of the said Act, the Governor may, by Order in Council, under his hand, and the public seal of the Colony, from time to time delegate to the Superintendent or the Provincial Executive of any Province, all or any of the powers vested in the Governor, or the Governor in Council by the said Act:

And whereas the said Governor hath, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand, delegated to the Executive Government of the Province of Canterbury, all the powers vested in the Governor, or the Governor in Council, by the said Act exercisable within the said Province:

And whereas for the protection of the trout placed in the River Avon, the Provincial Executive hath by Regulations made in that behalf, dated respectively the 24th day of March, 1869, and the 22nd day of November, 1870, prohibited fishing in the said river, from its source to the east boundary of the City of Christchurch:

And whereas it is expedient to make further provision for the protection of the said trout:

Now, therefore, the Provincial Executive of the said Province, in pursuance and exercise of the powers delegated to it, doth hereby make the following Regulation:

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Weights and Measures Act, 1868," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor from time to time to appoint one Inspector of Weights and Measures for any Province, County, Borough, or District, or for each of two or more divisions of any Province, County, Borough, or District, the boundaries of which divisions shall be proclaimed from time to time in the New Zealand Gazette by the Governor: And whereas it is expedient that Inspectors should be appointed for the
