REGULATION NO. 8.
LICENSING PASSENGER VEHICLES, CARTS, AND CARTERS, &c.
A REGULATION of the Council of the BOROUGH OF TIMARU, made under the forty-eighth provision of the first sub-division and the seventy-third provision of the second sub-division of the tenth part of the Thirteenth Schedule to "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867."
In pursuance of section 192, part 13, of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867," the Council of the Borough of Timaru make the following Regulation (that is to say) :-
Carriage Fees.
- For each License for any Hackney Carriage or Borough Stage Carriage there shall be paid to the Town Clerk the sum of (Β£1) one pound annually; every License to be available only until the first day of November after the date of its issue.
Drivers' Fees.
2. For each License for any Driver of any Hackney Carriage or Borough Stage Carriage there shall be paid to the Town Clerk the sum of (5s.) five shillings annually; every License to be available only until the first day of November after its issue.
Application for License.
3. Before any such License shall be granted the Owner or Owners of every Hackney Carriage or Borough Stage Carriage, and the person applying for a License as a Driver or Conductor of any Hackney Carriage or Borough Stage Carriage, shall deliver an application stating the particulars, and pursuant to the form contained in Schedules A and B to this Regulation; and the License shall not be granted unless the Council shall be satisfied that the Carriage, on inspection, shall appear fit for public use, and that the applicant for a Driver's or Conductor's License is of good character and conduct, and able to drive.
Form of License.
4. Licenses for Carriages shall be in form contained in Schedule C. Licenses for Drivers or Conductors shall be in the form contained in Schedule D. Licenses shall be in force from the date thereof until the first day of November next ensuing, and may be renewed on application at the Town Clerk's Office, not later than the fifteenth day of October previous to their expiring, the applicant leaving the same with the Town Clerk, who shall give a receipt for the same.
License to be Numbered.
5. Licenses shall be signed by the Town Clerk, and numbered in such order as shall be determined by the Council. Licenses to Drivers and Conductors shall be furnished in duplicate.
