Proclamation of Educational Districts




Geraldine District.

Commencing at a point where the boundary of the Waihi Educational District touches the River Hae Hae te Moana; thence north-westerly along the said river to the road to the east of section 5232, thence northerly along the said road to the north-west boundary of section 12262, thence north-easterly, following the north-west boundary line of sections 12262 and 11352 to the northern corner of the latter section, thence following a straight line to the north-west corner of section 11567, thence following another straight line through the northern corner of section 3155 to the River Orari, thence south-easterly along this river to the boundary of the Waihi Educational District, and thence south-westerly along the said boundary to the starting point.

Greenpark District.

Starting at the junction of the L 1 Creek with Lake Ellesmere, thence northerly and north-easterly up the said creek, to the north-west corner of section 7644; thence easterly along the northern boundary of that section and of sections 6873, 6238, 6134, 6072, 5841, and 5747, to the road to the east of the latter section; thence southerly along this road to the road to the north of section 7251; thence easterly along this latter road to the River Halswell; thence northerly along the river to the road to the south of section 4870; thence easterly along this road to its junction with the reserve for road and drain purposes (said reserve being to the east of section 1432); thence southerly along the said reserve to Lake Ellesmere, and westerly along the shore of the lake to the starting point.

Governor’s Bay, North District.

Commencing at the point where the western boundary of the Native Reserve touches the sea beach, following the said boundary, and a line in continuation thereof to the ridge of hills; thence following the said ridge of hills westerly and southerly as far as Cooper’s Knobs; thence along the ridge of the spur to the end of the promontory forming the southern boundary of Governor’s Bay, and thence by the sea beach to the starting point.

Halkett District.

Commencing at a point on the southern bank of the River Waimakariri, in a line with the western boundary of section 3802; thence continuing the said line southerly along the western boundary of the said section; thence crossing the road at the south of this section, and continuing the line along the western boundary of section 3801; thence in a straight line to the north-western corner of section 8751; thence southerly along the western boundaries of this latter section and of sections 9204, 9170, and 9089, to the south-western corner of the latter section; thence easterly along its southern boundary to the road lying to the west of section 8954; thence southerly along such road to the junction with the road lying to the south-west of section 8788; thence south-easterly along this latter road to its junction with the road lying to the south of sections 8899 and 7958 (Bealey’s Track); thence easterly along this latter road to the south-east corner of section 6469; thence in a straight line to the easternmost corner of section 7995; thence continuing the same straight line to the south bank of the River Waimakariri; and thence westerly along such bank to the starting point.

Halswell District.

Commencing at the south-eastern corner of section 198 on the Lincoln road, following along the north-eastern boundary thereof to the watercourse on the south side of section 346; following westerly along that watercourse to the north-east corner of section 1246; following along the south-eastern and part of the south-western boundary thereof to the north-eastern corner of section 1511; following along the south-eastern boundary of that section to the south-east corner; thence following a right line to the road on the north-west side of section 867; following south-westerly along the said road and the north-west boundary of section 952 to the dry river bed of the River Halswell; bounded on the westward by the Prebbleton district, and also by a line drawn from the south-west corner of section 1106 to the source of the stream forming the eastern boundary of section 1882; on the southward by the road forming the southern boundary of section 5322, and a straight line in continuation of the southern boundary of section 5163, drawn to meet Burke’s Bush road south; thence easterly following the latter road to section 905; thence following the western boundary of that section and the southern boundary lines of sections 905, 1906, and 1403 to the ridge of hills by Cass’ Peak; thence following the said ridge to the top of Hoon Hay Valley; and on the eastward by the
