No. 1317 (in red).—Five acres (more or less), situate in the Mandeville District, bounded on the westward by the road forming the eastern boundary of section 297; on the south-westward by Reserve No. 1250 (in red); and on the eastward and north-eastward by the river Waimakariri.—For the uses of the Provincial Government, and particularly for Protective Works in connection with the river Waimakariri.

CARRIAGE OF PERSONS AND GOODS, CARTS AND CARTERS.
A Bye-Law of the Council of the Borough of Timaru, made under “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867.”
IN pursuance of the power and provisions contained in Section 181, part thirteen of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867,” the Council of the Borough of Timaru ordain as follows, that is to say:—
The whole of the provisions, except the sixty-fourth and seventy-second provision contained in the first and second sub-divisions of the tenth part of the thirteenth Schedule to the said Act, are hereby adopted in and for the said Borough of Timaru.
Passed by the said Council this 12th day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.

PROCLAMATION.
I, WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by “The Trespass of Cattle Ordinance, 1869,” do hereby proclaim and declare that the yard belonging to Robert Worthington, situate at the Point in the Levels Road Board District, shall be deemed and taken to be a Public Pound, within the meaning of the above recited Ordinance, from and after Saturday, the 22nd day of July, 1871.
