REMARKS.—Rain fell on 18 days in March, to the unusual depth, for this month, of 5·354 inches, the average fall being 1·742 inches. A shock of earthquake was felt a few minutes before 8 a.m. on the 28th. The Weather on the 18th April was very tempestuous—a heavy gale from the S.W., with rain, blowing all day and all night. The weather during May was for the most part fine, and dry. On the 24th, at 8 p.m., there was vivid lightning and thunder in the S.W., succeeded by a heavy rain for a few minutes.
