PROCLAMATION
By his Honor William Rolleston, Esq.,
Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury.
WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, entitled “The Canterbury Police Ordinance, 1 58, Session X., No. 1,” it is provided that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent by Proclamation, to declare the said Ordinance to be in operation within any town, upon the requisition to that effect from a majority of the Justices of the Peace of the district in which such town is situated.
Now therefore, I, William Rolleston, Superintendent as aforesaid, do hereby, upon the requisition of a majority of the Justices of the Peace of the Geraldine District, proclaim and declare that the Canterbury Police Ordinance shall be and is hereby brought into operation within the townships of Waimate and Arowhenua in the said district.
Given under my hand at Christchurch, this Twelfth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.

PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS it is enacted by “The Dog Nuisance Ordinance, Session XVII., No. 3,” and “The Dog Nuisance Amendment Ordinance, 1862,” that the Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury shall from time to time by Proclamation, appoint certain places for the Registration of Dogs, and by the 3rd clause of the first recited Ordinance may authorise certain persons to demand the fee of ten shillings for such registration.
Now therefore, I, William Rolleston, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, by virtue of the powers in me vested, do hereby proclaim and declare that the following places shall be places at which dogs may be registered, viz.:—
At the Police Station, Christchurch.
At the Police Station, Lyttelton.
At the Police Station, Akaroa.
At the Police Station, Kaiapoi.
At the Police Station, Rangiora.
At the Police Station, Leithfield.
At the Police Station, Hurunui.
At the Police Station, Oxford.
At the Police Station, Bealey.
At Selwyn.
At Malvern.
At the Police Station, Ashburton.
At the Police Station, Arowhenua.
At the Police Station, Timaru.
At the Police Station, Waimate.
And that the persons duly authorised to perform the duties contained in the 3rd clause of the said first recited Ordinance, at the above-mentioned places shall be the under-noted persons:—
