PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by “The Roads Ordinance, 1869,” it is amongst other things enacted that if at any time previous to the first day of August in any year a majority of the Ratepayers of any portion of a district described in Schedule B to the said Ordinance, should petition the Superintendent that a portion of the district to be specified in such petition should be formed into a separate district, it should be lawful for the Superintendent, by Proclamation to be inserted in the Government Gazette and one newspaper circulating in the district, to declare that such part of the district mentioned in the said petition should be a Road District.

And whereas a petition signed by a majority of Ratepayers within a portion of the Rakaia Road District, being a district described in the Schedule B to the said Ordinance, was duly forwarded to the Superintendent pursuant to the said Ordinance, and it was thereby prayed that the portion of the province therein mentioned might be formed into a separate district.

Now therefore, I, WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the said Province, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, and in exercise and execution of the powers vested in me by the said Ordinance, do hereby declare that the portion of the Province hereinafter described and heretofore comprised in the Rakaia District, shall henceforth be a district under the name of “The Lake Coleridge District, that is to say :

All that portion of the Province bounded on the north by the Oxford, the Upper Waimakariri, and Malvern Districts; on the east by the eastern bank of Camping Gully, the eastern boundary of section 5984, a straight line drawn from the easternmost corner of that section to the south-east corner of section 13636, thence by the southern and eastern boundaries of the latter section, and of section 13637, and also a straight line drawn from the northernmost corner of section 13637 to the eastern corner of run No. 123; on the south by the north bank of the Rakaia to its southernmost source, thence by a straight line due west true to the County of Westland; and on the west by that County.
