Remarks

The first six days were wet, and occasionally stormy, with a rainfall of an inch and a half. Fine weather, with the wind in the N.E., then prevailed to the 21st. The remainder of the month was very wet. The depth of rain registered on the 28th, for the previous 24 hours, viz., 1.979 inches, was most unusual.

ERRATUM

In Gazette No. IX., March 16, 1871, in Proclamation constituting "The Southern Malvern Road Board District," in sixth line from end, for the word "River" read "Run."

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has made the following Reserves, temporarily, under the 19th clause of the Waste Lands Regulations, for Gravel Pits, viz.—

No. 1298, in red: Two and a half acres, more or less, situate in the Timaru District, commencing at a point on the Geraldine Road, two chains northwest of the Trigonometrical Station, north of Section 10429, following the said road in a northerly direction a distance of twelve chains, and extending back easterly in a rectangular block, being bounded on the east by the Waihi River.

No. 1299, in red: Five acres, more or less, situate in the Timaru District, commencing at a point on the Geraldine and Pleasant Valley Road, the same being the north-western corner of Section No. 8904; thence southerly following the western boundary of that section a distance of eight chains fifty links; thence westerly at a right angle a distance of about eight chains to the western bank of the old river bed, following the same before mentioned road, returning along that road to the commencing point.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the Sections of Land specified below will be submitted to Public Auction at the Sitting of the Waste Lands Board, to be held at the Land Office, Christchurch, on THURSDAY, the 6th day of APRIL, 1871, at Noon, subject to the usual conditions of Sale, in conformity with the Regulations for the disposal, sale, letting, and occupation of the Waste Lands of the Crown now in force in the Province of Canterbury.
