COMMISSIONERS’ REPORT.

SHIP "MONARCH."

HAVING inspected the Immigrant ship "Monarch" upon her arrival at this port from London, I have the honor to report:—

That the space allotted to the Immigrants was roomy and well ventilated, and the fittings conveniently arranged. I have much pleasure in stating that I found the several compartments in the most satisfactory condition both as to cleanliness and order.

The Immigrants, without exception, spoke favourably of the treatment they had received at the hands of the Captain, Surgeon, Matron, and Officers of the ship.

The provisions gave satisfaction, and were stated to have been served out regularly, and although the distilling apparatus (Graveley’s), had not altogether worked satisfactorily, yet the supply of water was reported sufficient and good.

I beg to recommend the payment of all gratuities, and the further employment of the Surgeon-Superintendent and Matron, should they desire it.

FREDK. D. GIBSON,
Immigration Commissioner.
