COMMISSIONERS’ REPORT.

SHIP HYDASPES.

SIR,—Having inspected the ship Hydaspes upon her arrival, I have the honour to report:—

I found the several compartments creditably clean, well ventilated, and, with the exception of the space allotted to the married people, properly arranged.

I beg to endorse the opinion so frequently expressed by the Commissioners, that the hospital for single women should be constructed on the upper deck if possible, and on no account within the married people’s compartment.

The immigrants unanimously spoke in the highest terms of the treatment they had received at the hands of the Captain, Surgeon, and Officers of the ship, and the Matron appears to have performed her duties most efficiently.

The provisions generally were of good quality, and were stated to have been served out regularly throughout the voyage.
