Remarks:

Severe weather was experienced on the 1st and 2nd, when rain to the depth of more than two inches fell: the remainder of the month was fine. There was a slight fall of snow on the 8th, and a heavier one on the 24th. A smart shock of earthquake was felt on the 23rd, at 10 a.m. The mean temperature for the month was very low, the average being 40.8 Fah.; whereas the average for the same month for the years 1864 to 1868 inclusive was 43.6 Fah.; also the average of the lowest temperature for the nights of July during the years above-mentioned was 35.4 Fah., but during the past month it was 32.5 Fah.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has made the following Reserves, temporarily under the 19th Clause of the Waste Lands Regulations, as reserves for Road Metal, viz.:

No. 1101, in red.—Five acres, more or less, situate in the Lincoln District, having five chains frontage on the road north-west of 6663, and extending north-westerly ten chains in a rectangular block; the southernmost corner of this reserve to touch the easternmost corner of section No. 2264.

No. 1102, in red.—Five acres, more or less, situate in the Lincoln District, bounded on the southward and southeastward by the Little River road; on the northward and eastward by the road south of 4555; and on the westward by a line at right angles to the general direction of the road forming the northern boundary, to include the required quantity.

No. 1103, in red.—Five acres, more or less, situate in the Lincoln District, bounded on the north-westward by section No. 2769; on the south-westward, southward, and southeastward by lines to include the required quantity.

No. 1104, in red.—Five acres, more or less, situate in the Lincoln District; bounded on the south-westward and southward by the Little River road; on the north-westward by a line ten chains distant on the average from the southern boundary; and on the north-eastward by a line at right angles to the north-western boundary, to include the required quantity.

No. 1105, in red.—Five acres, more or less, situate in the Lincoln District, having about three chains forty links frontage on the Little River Railway Reserve, and extending back north-easterly at right angles thereto, a distance of about fifteen chains, so as to include the island opposite section 2770; being bounded on the north-east by the Little River road.

No. 1106, in red.—Five acres, more or less, situate in the Lincoln District, bounded on the westward by sections 2700, 2756, and 2877; on the south-eastward by P.R. 165; and on the north-eastward by the road running along the north-western boundary of that P.R.

No. 1107, in red.—Five acres, more or less, situate in the Lincoln District, near Trig. pole L. 6; bounded on the westward, southward, and eastward by the base of the hill; and on the north-east by a straight line running from north-west to south-east, so as to include the above quantity.

L. and Q., on run No. 449; and on the westward by a straight line running parallel to the general direction of the road above mentioned, so as to include the above quantity. Subject to roads—As an endowment for a Lunatic Asylum.
