REGULATION No. 1.—PORTICOS.
Regulations of the Council of the City of Christchurch under part I. of the 13th Schedule of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1867.
In pursuance of the said Schedule of the said Act, the Council of the City of Christchurch, make the following Regulations, that is to say:—
I. In all cases in which special authority shall not have been obtained from the Council to do otherwise as to any of the particulars hereinafter contained, the following shall be the Regulations for the purposes specified in section 4, sub-section (1), part I., aforesaid.

Any Portico may be according to the plan and specification annexed hereto.

Every Portico shall have a fall towards the outer edge of the footway, upon or across which the same shall be erected sufficient to carry off immediately any water falling thereon; and in any case of not less than one foot six inches in ten feet, and shall at its lowest part be not less than seven feet six inches high in the clear, from the top of the kerbing of such footway, or the place in which the same would be, if there were such kerbing, to the under side of the plate of such Portico.

No part of any Portico which shall be under, or at either end of the roof thereof, shall be lower than the lowest part of the roof.

The Pillars and supports of every Portico shall be of wood or iron, and the pillars shall not, unless such Portico shall also be supported by means of struts springing therefrom, be placed more than ten feet apart from one another.

The material of the roof of every Portico erected in any street named in the Schedule hereto, shall be as to not less than one-third part thereof of glass.
REGULATION No. 2.—HOUSE DRAINS.
II. The following shall be a Regulation respecting the purposes specified in section 14, sub-section (3), part I., aforesaid.
- The material of every drain or trunk that shall be laid or constructed under any footway, whether there be or be not any kerb, at the site of such drain or trunk, shall be of metal or stone, or glazed pipes.
REGULATION No. 3.—CHANNEL CROSSINGS.
III. The following shall be Regulations for the purposes specified in section 26, sub-section (4), Part I, aforesaid:

Every crossing, across or over any side channel, shall consist of a wooden or iron bridge of not less than three feet, nor more than three feet six inches in width.

Where such channel shall be abutted by a stone kerbed footway, the bearers of the bridge shall be let into such kerbing, but so that the upper part of the woodwork so let in be on a level with the surface of such kerbing.

Where such channel shall be abutted by a wooden kerbed or unkerbed footway, the bridge shall be supported on the footway side thereof, by wooden supports fixed close alongside the footway in such manner, that the top of the bridge shall be on a level with the surface of the footway.
REGULATION No. 4.—DRIVING OF CATTLE.
IV. The following shall be Regulations for the purposes specified in Section 44, sub-section (9), Part I, aforesaid:

No person shall drive, assist to drive, or cause to be driven, any goat in harness, within the City of Christchurch, between the hours of seven o'clock, a.m., and eleven o'clock, p.m.

Excepting in the cases in this clause specified, no person shall drive, assist to drive, or cause to be driven, any other cattle within the City of Christchurch, between the hours of nine o'clock, a.m., and five o'clock, p.m., from the first day of October, to the thirty-first day of March, both days inclusive; and between the hours of nine o'clock, a.m., and four o'clock, p.m., from the first day of April, to the 30th day of September, both days inclusive.
(1.) Oxen in yoke, and horses in harness, may be so driven within the said hours.
(2.) Cattle found trespassing within the City, may be driven to pound within the said hours.
(3.) The Town Belt shall not be considered to be within the City of Christchurch, for the purposes of this regulation.
(4.) The word “Cattle” shall, for the purposes of this Regulation, be deemed to include Horses, Asses, Mules, Sheep, Goats, and Swine, of all ages, and of either sex, and to apply to any one of such animals driven alone as well as to a mob or herd.
