Commencing at the junction of the eastern boundary of the Fernside District (such boundary being the eastern boundary of the sections fronting on the road to the east of sections 8834, 1539, and 5910) with the road along the southern bank of the river Ashley; thence following this latter road easterly to the eastern boundary of section 1271, following southerly along that boundary to the south-eastern corner thereof; thence following a right line to trig. station M 16; thence by the road on the north-western boundary of the Native Reserve to the River Cam, following that river north-westerly to Young’s Road; thence westerly along this latter road to its junction with the Boy’s Rangiora direct road, following south-easterly along this latter road to its junction with the Ashley and Kaiapoi Road; thence north-westerly along this latter road to the north-east corner of section 1579; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of this latter section, and westerly along its southern boundary, and northerly along the road on its western boundary to its junction with the road on the north of section 6610; thence westerly along this latter road, and southerly along the same road where it forms the western boundary of the same section, following the said road as it turns along the north of section 6592; thence westerly along that road to the western boundary of the Fernside District, and thence northerly along the said boundary to the starting point.

PROCLAMATION

By His Honor WILLIAM SEFTON MOORHOUSE, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, altering the boundaries of the Governor’s Bay Educational District.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance enacted by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of Canterbury, entitled “The Education Ordinance Amendment Ordinance, 1865,” it is among other things provided that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury for the time being, from time to time to change or alter the boundaries of any and every Educational District proclaimed under the authority of “The Education Ordinance, 1864”:

And whereas on the Twenty-ninth day of October, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-four, the Governor’s Bay Educational District was proclaimed under the authority of the said Ordinance, the boundaries of which district were altered by Proclamation, dated the Twentieth day of December, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-four: And whereas it is desirable to further alter the boundaries of the said district:

Now, therefore, I, WILLIAM SEFTON MOORHOUSE, Superintendent of the Province aforesaid, do hereby, in pursuance of the powers so vested in me, proclaim that the boundaries of the Governor’s Bay Educational District shall be as follows:—

Commencing at a point on the southern side of Church Bay, where the stream running through section 1619 enters the sea, following up that stream to its intersection by the road leading past Castle Rock; thence by a right line to Mount Herbert, following along the ridge of hills, by McQueen’s Pass and Gebbie’s Pass, to Cooper’s Knobs; and thence along the ridge of the spur to the end of the promontory forming the southern boundary of Governor’s Bay, and from thence returning along the sea beach to the starting point.

Given under my hand, at Christchurch, this Twentieth day of December, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven.
