PROCLAMATION.

  1. WILLIAM SEFTON MOORHOUSE, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers delegated to me under the provisions of “The Gold Fields Act, 1866,” do hereby notify that the Tramway constructed by the “Hokitika and Kanieri Tramway Company, Limited,” between Hokitika and Kanieri, and known as the Hokitika and Kanieri Tramway, is open for public traffic; and that Tolls may be levied and Charges may be made by the said Company, for the period of one year from the date hereof, at rates not exceeding the undermentioned sums:—

TOLLS.

For every horse, ass, or mule carrying a pack ........................... 2 6
For every horse, ass, or mule without a pack ............................ 1 0
For all horned cattle driven with pack, each ............................ 2 6
For all horned cattle driven without pack, each ........................ 1 0
For every sheep, lamb, goat, or pig—
in quantities under 100, each ........................................ 0 3
in quantities over 100, each ......................................... 0 2

CHARGES.

Colonial sawn timber, per 100 superficial feet ........................ 2 0
Shingles, per 1000 ........................................................ 5 0

General merchandise, per ton ........................................... 30 0
Sheep, truck loads not less than twenty, per head ..................... 1 0
Carcasses, per lb ........................................................ 0 0½
Coals, per ton ........................................................... 20 0
Passengers, each ....................................................... 1 6
Hay, straw, bricks, manure, &c. as per agreement.

Given under my hand, at Christchurch, this Twenty-second day of November, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven.
