PROCLAMATION
By His Honor SAMUEL BEALEY, Esq.,
Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, setting apart certain lands as sites for towns.

I, SAMUEL BEALEY, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, do hereby, in pursuance of the powers vested in me in that behalf by the 23rd clause of the Regulations for the sale, letting, disposal, and occupation of the Waste Lands of the Crown in the Province of Canterbury, and upon the recommendation of the Provincial Council, proclaim and declare that the undermentioned blocks of land have been set apart as sites for towns; that is to say,β
Town of Geraldine.
All that piece or parcel of land, containing 320 acres, more or less, situate in the Timaru District, bounded on the north-east by section 7456, on the north-west by sections 7456 and 8890 and a line in continuation of the south-eastern boundary of the same, on the south-west by sections 4221, 4631, 5068, 5810, 6520, and a line in continuation of their north-eastern boundary, and on the east by the western bank of the River Waihi.
Town of Ashburton.
All that piece or parcel of land, containing 640 acres, more or less, situate in the Ashburton District, commencing at a point on the northern bank of the River Ashburton, the same being the south-western corner of section 4873; thence north-easterly, following the north-western boundary of that section and a line in continuation thereof a distance of ninety-three chains; thence north-westerly, at a right angle, a distance of eighty-nine chains; thence again, at a right angle, south-westerly to the river before mentioned, and from thence returning along the same, to the commencing point.
Town of Arowhenua.
All that piece or parcel of land, containing 640 acres, more or less, situate in the Timaru District, bounded on the west by the Railway Reserve, on the north by sections 2466, 3152, 3158, 2483, 2484, and 2534, on the east by sections 2583, 3154, and the stream which forms part of the western boundary of sections 3154 and 2596, to its junction with the Temuka River, and on the south by the Temuka River.
Town of Waimate.
All that piece or parcel of land, containing 640 acres, more or less, situate in the Waitangi District, commencing at a point on the Waimatimati, the same being the southernmost corner of section 4311, and being bounded on the north-west by that section, by section 997, and by section 7495, on the north-east by the road separating it from sections 2521, 5726, 5965, 6217, and 3828; bounded on the south-east by sections 6242 and 6241, on the south-west by a line running from the south-western corner of the latter section, and parallel to the north-eastern boundary of this reserve, to the northern bank of the aforesaid River Waimatimati, and from thence following that bank to the commencing point.
Town of Wairewa.
All that piece or parcel of land, containing 640 acres, more or less, situate at Little River, bounded on the west by section 4888 and a line in continuation of its eastern boundary, on the northward by the Native Reserve and a line in continuation of the southern boundary thereof, on the southward by the Rivers Okana and Okute, and on the eastward by a line at right angles to the northern boundary, so as to include the above quantity.
Town of Bealey.
All that piece or parcel of land, containing 320 acres, more or less, situate on the north bank of the Waimakariri, having frontage of about one mile seventy-two chains to the said river, and extending back northerly a distance on the average of forty chains, exclusive of the river bed of the Bealey.
Town of Greymouth.
All that piece or parcel of land, containing 1000 acres, more or less, bounded on the north by the Native Reserves at the mouth of the Grey for a distance of a mile, and on the west by the sea for about a mile and a half, and back to the extent of 1000 acres.
Weld Town (Bruce Bay).
All that piece or parcel of land, containing 1000 acres, more or less, situate at Bruce Bay (Mahitahi Bay), commencing at a point on the sea shore, the same being sixty chains north-west of the north-eastern corner of the Native Reserve No. 4, thence following a line bearing due south magnetic a distance of about one hundred and forty-four chains thence due east magnetic a distance of about ninety-six chains to the bank of the river Mahitahi, following that bank in a northerly direction to the southernmost corner of the Native Reserve No. 5, following the south-western boundary of that reserve to the point of commencement.
