In the matter of the “Debtors and Creditors Acts;” and Re Albert Walter Ward of Lyttelton, Commission Agent, a debtor.

NOTICE is hereby given that by an order of this Honorable Court made the Eleventh day of December instant the estate and effects of the above named debtor were sequestrated and James Edwin Graham of Christchurch Inspector in Bankruptcy was appointed Receiver under the said Acts and the Twentieth day of February next at the Court House Christchurch was appointed as the time and place for the hearing of the petition of the said debtor and the said order was thereby declared to be a vesting order pursuant to section 8 of the said “Debtors and Creditors Act Amendment Act, 1865.”

BYE-LAW No. 4.

A BYE-LAW for the SUPPRESSION OF NUISANCES, “City Council Ordinance, 1862, Section 47, Sub-section C.”

ANY person depositing any noisome or offensive solid matter upon any street, or in any public open drain, channel, or watercourse within the City so that a nuisance may thereby be created, or conveying or throwing down into any street, public open drain, channel, or watercourse within the City, any noisome or offensive fluid matter, so that a nuisance may thereby be created, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding the sum of Five pounds for every such breach of this Bye-Law.

Every person assisting to deposit, or causing to be deposited any such solid matter, or assisting to convey, throw down, or causing to be conveyed or thrown down any such fluid matter as aforesaid, shall be within this Bye-Law.

The word Street shall, for the purposes of this Bye-Law, be deemed to include all bridges, squares, roads, streets, lanes, paths, and other public open spaces within the City.

Made by the Council at a Meeting held on the Tenth day of December, 1866.

I, the undersigned WILLIAM WATT, hereby make application to register the “United Extended Gold Mining Company, registered,” under the provisions of “The Mining Companies Limited Liability Act, 1865”; and I do solemnly and sincerely declare that the following statement is, to the best of my belief and knowledge, true in every particular; namely,—

  1. The name and style of the Company is the “United Extended Gold Mining Company, registered.”

  2. The place of operations is at the Kanieri.

  3. The nominal capital of the Company is Seven thousand five hundred Pounds, in Three thousand seven hundred and fifty Shares at Two Pounds each.

  4. The amount already paid up is Two thousand eight hundred Pounds.

  5. The name of the Manager is William Watt.

  6. The office of the Company is at Messrs. Rees and Tyler’s, corner of Camp and Wharf Streets, Hokitika.

  7. The names and several residences of the shareholders, and the number of shares held by each at this date, are as follows:—
