‘The Canterbury Police Ordinance, 1858,’ Sess. X, No. 1, it is provided that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, by Proclamation, to declare the said Ordinance to be in operation within any town, upon the requisition to that effect from a majority of the Justices of the Peace of the district in which such town is situated.
Now, therefore, I, WILLIAM SEFTON MOORHOUSE, Superintendent as aforesaid, do hereby, upon the requisition of a majority of the Justices of the Peace of the District of Westland, proclaim and declare that the Canterbury Police Ordinance shall be, and is hereby brought into operation within the towns of Goldsborough, Okarito, Kanieri, and Ross, in the said district.
Given under my hand, at Christchurch, this Nineteenth day of July, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.

PROCLAMATION
By His Honor WILLIAM SEFTON MOORHOUSE, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, constituting and defining certain Districts under “The Slaughter House Ordinance.”
WHEREAS by an Ordinance enacted by the Lieutenant Governor of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, Session VIII, No. 5, entitled “An Ordinance for Regulating the Slaughtering of Cattle in certain places,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for His Excellency the Governor, by Proclamation from time to time, to constitute and define certain Districts for the purpose of regulating the Slaughtering of Cattle in certain places, and the limits of such Districts from time to time alter as occasion may require; and also if he shall see fit to revoke the Proclamation by which any such District shall have been constituted.
And whereas, by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, entitled “The Empowering Ordinance, Session II., No. 2,” it is enacted that the powers conferred on the Governor of New Zealand by the above recited Ordinance, are within the limits of the Province of Canterbury, conferred on the Superintendent thereof.
Now, therefore, I, WILLIAM SEFTON MOORHOUSE, Superintendent of the said Province, in pursuance of the powers so vested in me aforesaid, do hereby constitute and define the Districts specified in the Schedule hereunto annexed, for the purpose of regulating the Slaughtering of Cattle.

SCHEDULE.
GOLDSBOROUGH DISTRICT.
All that portion of the Province comprising the Town of Goldsborough, and extending a distance of a mile outside the limits of the said Town.
KANIERI DISTRICT.
All that portion of the Province comprising the Town of Kanieri, and extending a distance of a mile outside the limits of the said Town.
OKARITO DISTRICT.
All that portion of the Province comprising the Town of Okarito east; the Town of Okarito north; the Town of Okarito south; and extending a mile outside the limits of the said Towns.
ROSS DISTRICT.
All that portion of the Province comprising the Town of Ross, and extending a mile outside the limits of the said Town.
IN THE SUPREME COURT OF NEW ZEALAND, WESTLAND DISTRICT.
In the matter of the “Debtors and Creditors Act, 1862;” and
In the matter of the “Debtors and Creditors Act Amendment Act, 1865;” and
In the matter of the Estate of George Scott, of Revell Street, Hokitika, in the Westland District of the Colony of New Zealand, Merchant; and
In the matter of the Petition of the said debtor.
TAKE notice that I filed a petition on the Second day of July, 1866, for release and discharge from all debts, liabilities, and engagements under the above Acts, and that the day fixed by His Honor Henry Barnes Gresson, Esq., for hearing the said petition and proofs of debts and claims of creditors, is the Thirtieth day of July, 1866, at eleven o’clock in the forenoon, at the Court House, Hokitika.
