Christchurch, June 20, 1866.

To the CHAIRMAN of the BOARD OF EDUCATION.

DEAR SIR,

We beg herewith to forward you the result of our examination, on the 19th inst., of the eighteen (18) candidates for the four scholarships granted to Government Schools by the Provincial Government.

In doing so we beg to express our great satisfaction at the very creditable manner in which the whole of the boys acquitted themselves, the quiet and steady attention they paid to the examination, and their general good and orderly behaviour, all of which things reflect great credit on their schoolmasters.

We have the honour to be, Sir,

Your obedient servants,

JAS. GEO. HAWKES, }
