And whereas the Road Board for the Okain’s Bay District, did neglect to give public notice of, and to hold on the first following Tuesday in January, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-five, a certain annual meeting of the Ratepayers of the said District, as provided in Section 40, of the said Ordinance:
Now, therefore, I, SAMUEL BEALEY, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury aforesaid, with the advice of the Executive Council, do hereby proclaim the powers of the said Road Board, for the Okain’s Bay District, to be suspended, and I appoint Robert Townsend, of Christchurch, to be a Commissioner for the said District.

PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, entitled “the Diversion of Roads Ordinance, 1866,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of the said Province, by Proclamation in the Provincial Government Gazette, to stop up the public roads, and parts of public roads, described in the schedule thereto, and in the plan thereto annexed:
Now, therefore, I, SAMUEL BEALEY, Esq., the Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, do hereby proclaim that the public roads, (or parts of public roads), as mentioned and described in the said schedule in the said Ordinance, as
Part of Cambridge Terrace, and Market Place, Christchurch,
Part of Rakaia Gorge road, and part of Beach Reserves, Timaru,
shall from the date hereof be stopped.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has made the following Reserves, temporarily, under the 19th clause of the Waste Land Regulations, for the purposes of sheep driving; viz.—
No. 723, in red.—Three hundred and fifty acres, more or less, situate in the Upper Waimakariri District, commencing at a point on the southern bank of the Waimakariri, the same being 70 chains west of the western boundary of reserve, in red, No. 403; following westerly the edge of the bush, a distance of 130 chains, and from thence returning along the said river bank to the commencing point.
No. 724, in red.—Three hundred and fifty acres, more or less, situate in the Upper Waimakariri District, being bounded on the north by the edge of the bush, on the west by the town of Bealey and by the river Bealey, on the south by the town of Bealey and the Waimakariri, and on the east by a line at right angles to the Waimakariri to include the quantity required.
