Land Reserves for Public Use




No. 425, in red.—Sixty-five acres, more or less, situate in the Malvern district, being bounded on the north by Porter’s Pass road, on the east by section No. 6471, on the south by a line in continuation of the southern boundary of that section, and on the west by I.P.R.C. on run No. 130, and a line in continuation of the eastern boundary of the same—For the uses of the Provincial Government, and particularly as a paddock for police horses.

No. 426, in red.—One hundred and fifty acres more or less, situate at the Craigie burn, being bounded on the north by reserve No. 387 and a line in continuation of the south-western boundary of the same reserve, on the north-west by a line in continuation of the north-western boundary of reserve No. 205, on the south-east by the Craigie burn, and on the south-west by the before-mentioned reserve No. 205—For the uses of the Provincial Government, and particularly as a paddock for police horses.

No. 429, in red.—Fifty acres, more or less, situate in the Upper Waimakariri district, having a frontage of twelve chains fifty links to the south bank of the Waimakariri, and extending back southerly forty-one chains in a rectangular block east of and adjoining reserve No. 394 (in red), subject to the West Coast road—For the use of the Constabulary reserve of the Provincial Government, and other public purposes.

No. 430, in red.—Two hundred acres, more or less, situate on the eastern side of the Taipo or Hopeka river, commencing at the confluence of that river with the Teremakanu, following southerly along the first-mentioned river a distance of fifty chains, and extending back easterly forty chains in a rectangular block—For the uses of the Provincial Government of Canterbury, and particularly for a public ferry.

No. 431, in red.—Two hundred acres, more or less, situate on the western side of the Taipo or Hopeka river, commencing at the confluence of that river with the Teremakanu, following southerly along the first-mentioned river a distance of fifty chains, and extending back westerly forty chains in a rectangular block—For the uses of the Provincial Government of Canterbury, and particularly for a public ferry.

No. 432, in red.—Fifty acres, more or less, situate on the Otira, below the gorge, having a frontage of about twenty-six chains sixty links to the eastern side of the river, and extending back a distance of twenty-six chains sixty links in a rectangular block—For the uses of the Provincial Government of Canterbury, and particularly as a site for a public accommodation house.

No. 433, in red.—Fifty acres, more or less, situate on the Otira, below the gorge, having a frontage of about twenty-six chains sixty links to the western side of the river, and extending back westerly a distance of twenty-six chains sixty links in a rectangular block—For the uses of the Provincial Government of Canterbury, and particularly as a site for a public accommodation house.

No. 434, in red.—Twelve acres three roods, more or less, situate in the town of Hokitika, and known as Gibson’s Quay, being bounded on the south by the Hokitika river, on the east by a line in continuation of the western side of Jollie street, on the west by the western side of Wharf street, and on the north by a line being parallel to, and two chains distant from, the first-described boundary—For the purposes of a public wharf.

No. 436, in red.—Two acres two roods thirty-two perches, more or less, situate in the town of Hokitika, and bounded on the north by Weld street, on the east by Sewell street and reserve (in red) No. 393, on the west by Tancred street, and on the south by reserves (in red) No. 392 and 398—For the uses of the Provincial Government, and particularly as a site for Government buildings.

No. 439, in red.—One acre, one rood twenty-two perches, more or less, situate in the town of Hokitika, commencing at a point on the western side of Sewell street, the same being one chain north of Weld street, following the first-mentioned street in a northerly direction a distance of three chains, and extending back westerly a distance of four chains sixty-one links, in a rectangular block, being bounded on the west by Tancred street—For the uses of the Wesleyan Church.

No. 440, in red.—Two acres eight perches, more or less, situate in the town of Hokitika, being bounded on the west by Tancred street, on the south-east by Stafford street, and on the north-east by FitzGerald street—For the uses of the Roman Catholic Church.

No. 442, in red.—Two roods thirty-three perches, more or less, situate in the town of Hokitika, being bounded on the north by Stafford street, on the east by Cass square, and on the south-west by FitzGerald street—For a mechanics’ institute or other literary society.

No. 443, in red.—One rood one perch, more or less, situate in the town of Hokitika, commencing at the intersection of Sewell and FitzGerald streets.
