PROCLAMATION
By His Honor SAMUEL BEALEY, Esq.,
Superintendent of the Province of
Canterbury.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Su-
perintendent and Provincial Council
of the said Province, intituled "The Edu-
cation Ordinance, 1863," it is among other
things enacted, that whenever the Board of
Education shall call by advertisement a
public meeting of owners and occupiers of
land and householders in any district, and
such meeting shall declare by the votes of
the majority of the persons present (being
such owners and occupiers of land and
householders as aforesaid) that they are
willing that the said district be formed into
an Educational District under the provisions
of the said Ordinance, and shall declare their
willingness to provide the proportion of the
annual expenses of an Educational District,
the Superintendent shall, as soon as conve-
niently may be, by Proclamation in the Pro-
vincial Government Gazette, declare such
district to be an Educational District under
the said Ordinance, and such District shall
thereupon become an Educational District
accordingly:

And whereas at a meeting duly called as
aforesaid, and held at Mr. Hillyard's wool
shed on the 30th September, 1865, the
owners and occupiers of land and house-
holders in the district specified in the Sche-
dule hereunto annexed, did by the votes of
the majority there present declare that they
were willing that the said district should be
formed into an Educational District; and
further declared their willingness to provide
the proportion of the annual expenses of an
Educational District as provided in the said
Ordinance.

Now, therefore, I, SAMUEL BEALEY, Su-
perintendent of the said Province, in pur-
suance of the power in me vested by the
said in part recited Ordinance, do hereby
proclaim that the district specified in the
Schedule hereunto annexed shall be an Edu-
cational District within the meaning of the
said Ordinance.

Given under my hand, at Christchurch,
this Fifth day of October, One thousand
eight hundred and sixty-five.

EYRETON DISTRICT.

Commencing at the junction of the road
known as the Oxford tram-road with the
north branch of the Waimakariri river; fol-
lowing the said tram-road westerly to its
intersection by the road forming the western
boundary of Mr. Chapman's run and free-
hold land; following the latter road south-
erly to the river Eyre; thence following the
