can be taken before two Justices of
the Peace, and shall be liable to a
penalty of Fifty Pounds.

Cattle under the "Diseased Cattle Act,
1861," for the Province of Canterbury;

George Babbington Parker.
Philip Baker Boulton.
Thomas Hill, M.R.C.V.S.

George Henry Moore.
Andrew Ramsay Scarvell.

Chief Surveyor, shall be deemed and taken
to be a Public Pound within the meaning of
the above-recited Ordinance, from and after
Wednesday, the Fourth day of October, One
thousand eight hundred and sixty-five.

NOTICE is hereby given that the sec-
tions of land specified below will be
submitted to public auction, at the sitting of
the Waste Lands Board, to be held at the
Land Office, Christchurch, on Thursday,
October 5th, 1865, at the hour of noon, subject to the usual conditions of sale, and in
conformity with the Regulations for the dis-
posal, sale, letting, and occupation of the
Waste Lands of the Crown, now in force
within the Province of Canterbury.

PROCLAMATION

By His Honor SAMUEL BEALEY, Esq.,
Superintendent of the Province of
Canterbury, establishing a Public
Pound in the Township of Ashburton.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Super-
intendent and Provincial Council
of the Province of Canterbury, intituled
"The Trespass of Cattle Ordinance, Ses-
sion XIV, No. 1," it is enacted that it shall
be lawful for the Superintendent to cause
Public Pounds to be erected and maintained
within the said Province: Now, therefore, I,
SAMUEL BEALEY, Superintendent

of the said Province, in pursuance of the
provisions of the above-recited Ordinance, and
of all other powers enabling me on that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the place or enclosure, erected upon section
No. 301, in the township of Ashburton, as
set out and described on the maps of the
