A PROCLAMATION

For the Naturalization of certain Persons.

By His Excellency Sir George Grey,
Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c.

WHEREAS by “The Naturalization Act, 1864,” it is enacted that every person who shall be declared to come within the operation of that Act by any Proclamation to be issued in that behalf by His Excellency the Governor, shall, as from the time in such Proclamation specified, be deemed and taken, until the termination of the next session of the General Assembly, to be and to have been from such specified time a natural-born subject of Her Majesty, within the Colony of New Zealand, as fully to all intents and purposes as if his name had been inserted in the Schedule to that Act annexed: Provided always, that every such Proclamation shall contain the description, occupation or calling of every person therein named, and his place of residence at the date of such Proclamation:

Now, therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance of the power and authority in me vested by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the persons hereinafter mentioned shall come within the operation of the said Act from the dates hereinafter specified; viz.—


John Anskis Aschman,
from the twenty-seventh day of March, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five, native of Prussia, Mariner; residence, Akaroa, in the Province of Canterbury.

Christian Dietrich,
from the first day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-four, native of Germany, Baker; residence, Christchurch, in the Province of Canterbury.

Isaac Fonseca,
from the first day of April, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five, native of St. Croix, one of the West India Islands belonging to Denmark, Carpenter, Vestry-clerk and Sexton; residence, Timaru, in the Province of Canterbury.

Johan Meyer,
from the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-five, native of Stemme, Hanover, Farmer; residence, Arrowhennua, in the Province of Canterbury.

Pieter Kippenberger,
from the twentieth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, native of Bayern, Germany, Laborer; residence, Beach Road, Timaru, in the Province of Canterbury.

Carlo Schiavi,
from the eleventh day of May, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-four, native of Venice, Boarding-house Keeper; residence, South Road, Timaru, in the Province of Canterbury.

John Muller,
from the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two, native of Prussia, Hotel Keeper; residence, Christchurch, in the Province of Canterbury.

Philipp Schneider,
from the first day of February, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two, native of Germany, Hotel Keeper; residence, Christchurch, in the Province of Canterbury.

John Ebert,
from the first day of February, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two, native of Germany, Hotel Keeper; residence, Christchurch, in the Province of Canterbury.

Given under my hand, at the Government House at Wellington, and issued under the Seal of the Colony of New Zealand, this Twenty-second day of June, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty-five.

A PROCLAMATION

Extending the Jurisdiction of the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Hokitika, in the Province of Canterbury.

By His Excellency Sir George Grey,
Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c.

WHEREAS by “The Resident Magistrates’ Jurisdiction Extension Act, 1862,” it is enacted that every case of a claim for debt or damages, such as might at the passing of the said Act be lawfully tried in a Resident Magistrate’s Court, where the debt or damages claimed do not exceed the sum of twenty pounds, may be tried in any Resident Magistrate’s Court with respect to which this Act shall be in operation, when the debt or damages claimed do not exceed fifty pounds: And it is provided that the Governor may, by Proclamation in the Government Gazette of the Colony, declare that the limit of jurisdiction of any such Court shall be extended to one hundred pounds, and such limit of jurisdiction shall be in such cases extended accordingly:
