NOTICE is hereby given that the sections of land specified below will be
submitted to public auction, at the sitting of
the Waste Lands Board, to be held at the
Land Office, Christchurch, on Thursday,
June 22nd, 1865, at the hour of noon, subject to the usual conditions of sale, and in
conformity with the Regulations for the disposal, sale, letting, and occupation of the
Waste Lands of the Crown, now in force
within the Province of Canterbury.

PROCLAMATION
By His Honor Samuel Bealey, Esq.,
Superintendent of the Province of
Canterbury.
WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council
of the said Province, intituled “The Education Ordinance, 1864,” it is among other
things enacted, that whenever the Board of
Education shall call by advertisement a
public meeting of owners and occupiers of
land and householders in any district, and
such meeting shall declare by the votes of
the majority of the persons present (being
such owners and occupiers of land and
householders as aforesaid) that they are
willing that the said district should be formed into an Educational District; and further declared their willingness
to provide the proportion of the annual expenses of an Educational District,
the Superintendent shall, as soon as conveniently may be, by Proclamation in the Provincial Government Gazette, declare such
district to be an Educational District under
the said Ordinance, and such district shall
thereupon become an Educational District
accordingly:
And whereas at a meeting duly called as
aforesaid, and held at the Schoolroom at
Pigeon Bay, on the 11th May, 1865, the
owners and occupiers of land and householders in the district specified in Schedule I. hereunto annexed, did by the votes
of the majority there present declare that
they were willing that the said district
should be formed into an Educational District; and further declared their willingness
to provide the proportion of the annual expenses of an Educational District as provided in the said Ordinance:
And whereas at a meeting duly called as
aforesaid, and held at Waimate, on the 24th
May, 1865, the owners and occupiers of
land and householders in the district specified in Schedule II. hereunto annexed, did
by the votes of the majority there present
declare that they were willing that the said
district should be formed into an Educational District; and further declared their
willingness to provide the proportion of the
annual expenses of an Educational District
as provided in the said Ordinance:
Now, therefore, I, Samuel Bealey, Superintendent of the said Province, in pursuance of the power in me vested by the
said in part recited Ordinance, do hereby
proclaim that the districts specified in the
Schedule hereunto annexed shall be Educational Districts within the meaning of the
said Ordinance.

this Second day of June, One thousand
eight hundred and sixty-five.

SCHEDULE I.
PIGEON BAY DISTRICT.
Bounded by a line drawn from the east
head of Pigeon Bay southward along the
ridge of the hills to the ridge round Akaroa
Harbour; following the latter ridge westward to the junction of the Pigeon Bay and
Purau lines of road; following the said
Purau road till it meets the ridge separating
Holmes Gully from Port Levy; following
the latter ridge northward to the west head
of Pigeon Bay.
SCHEDULE II.
WAIMATE DISTRICT.
Bounded on the north by the Waituna
(Deep Creek) and an east and west line
drawn from the source thereof, on the east
by the sea, on the south by the Waihoa, and
on the west by the northern branch of the
last named river.
PUBLIC NOTICE.
WHEREAS one Jean Joseph Raymond
has claimed and requires a
Crown Grant of a certain parcel of Land
