CANTERBURY DISTRICT.
In the matter of "The Debtors’ and Creditors’ Act, 1862;" and
In the matter of the estate of Charles Paddock, of Manchester-street, in the City of Christchurch, Millwright, and in co-partnership with Thomas Steadman, at the Mandeville Mills, Woodend, as Millers, under the name or style of "Steadman and Paddock," a debtor, not in custody; and
In the matter of the petition of the said debtor.
IN CHAMBERS:
This 23rd day of December, 1864.
UPON the application of Mr. Slater of Counsel for the said petitioner, Charles Paddock, after reading the said petition, purporting to be signed by the said petitioner, such debtor as aforesaid, and to be concurred in by Messrs. Beswick and Birch, creditors to the extent of not less than fifty pounds in the whole, and also certain schedules, and also an affidavit to the said petition annexed, and therewith filed, on the Twenty-third day of December, pursuant to the said Act, this Court being satisfied of the truth of the matters contained in the said petition doth hereby grant an ad interim order of sequestration of the estate and effects of the said Charles Paddock; and doth direct that the estate and effects of the said Charles Paddock shall be taken and held by Henry Fowle Seager, of Christchurch, printer, as Receiver under the said Act, hereby appointed by the Court, subject to such further order or in pursuance of the provisions of this Act: And this Court doth hereby appoint Wednesday, the Fifteenth day of February next, at eleven o’clock in the forenoon, for the hearing of such petition and the proofs of debts and claims of creditors, at the Court House, Christchurch aforesaid. And the Court doth also further order and grant an ad interim order of protection to protect the person and estate of the said Charles Paddock from arrest, execution, or legal process until further orders of this Court.

NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of several Orders of His Honor the Judge at a sitting of the Court under the above-named Act, made on the Fifteenth day of November last, the further hearing of the Petitions of the under-mentioned debtors will take place at the Court House, Christchurch, on Wednesday, the Fifteenth day of February next, at eleven o’clock in the forenoon:—

Benjamin Packwood, of Kaiapoi, Laborer, formerly Farmer and Storekeeper.
Tom Waterworth, of Lyttelton, Mason and Builder, previously in co-partnership with Haigh and Stimson, trading as "Waterworth and Co.," Quarrymen, at Quailo Island, and formerly trading in co-partnership with Harrison and Cook, as "Harrison and Co.," Quarrymen.
Hyam Joseph, of Christchurch, Fancy Warehouseman; formerly of the Otago Diggings, Storekeeper and Auctioneer.
Samuel Williams, of Timaru Hotel, Timaru, Licensed Victualler.
James Rule, of Christchurch, Veterinary Surgeon.
Joseph Holden Robinson, of Christchurch, Painter.
James Williams, of Lyttelton, Builder.
Henry Sheeres, of Lyttelton, and formerly of Christchurch, Boarding House Keeper.
Also, by an Order bearing date the Fifteenth day of August last past, the further hearing of the Petition of William Merritt, of Christchurch aforesaid, Carter, was adjourned to the said Fifteenth day of February, 1865.
