IN THE SUPREME COURT OF NEW ZEALAND,
CANTERBURY DISTRICT.
In the matter of the “Debtors’ and Creditors’ Act, 1862,” and
In the matter of the petition of Joseph Anderson, formerly of Kaiapoi, in the Province of Canterbury, in partnership with James Morrission, of Kaiapoi, aforesaid, carrying on business as butchers, under the style or firm of Anderson and Morrission, but now of Christchurch, out of business, a debtor, not in custody.
THIS Sixteenth day of February, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-four, at a sitting of this Court, pursuant to the said Act, upon the application of W. S. Moorhouse, of counsel for the said petitioner Joseph Anderson, after reading the said petition, purporting to be signed by the said petitioner, such debtor as aforesaid, and to be concurred in by George Crawford Black, of Kaiapoi, in the said Province of Canterbury, storekeeper, creditor to the extent of not less than fifty pounds sterling in the whole, and also the affidavit of the said Joseph Anderson, filed the Fifteenth day of February instant, pursuant to the said Act, this Court being satisfied of the truth of the matters contained in the said petition, doth hereby grant an ad interim order of sequestration of the estate and effects of the said Joseph Anderson, and doth direct that the estate and effects of the said Joseph Anderson be taken and held by Henry Fowle Seager, of Christchurch, printer, under the said Act, hereby appointed by the said Court, subject to such further order of the Court as may be made under or in pursuance of this Act, and this Court doth hereby appoint the first day of the sitting of the Court under the Act, after the expiration of fourteen days from the date hereof, at eleven o’clock in the forenoon, for the hearing of such petition and the proof of debts and claims of creditors at the Court House, Christchurch, aforesaid; and the Court doth also further order and grant an ad interim order of protection to protect the person and estate of the said Joseph Anderson from arrest, execution, or other legal process until further order of this Court.

In the matter of the “Debtors’ and Creditors’ Act, 1862,” and in the matter of the Petition of Rowland Davis, heretofore of Lyttelton, in the Province of Canterbury, Innkeeper, then of Christchurch, in the said Province, Innkeeper, and now of the Ferry Road, near Christchurch, aforesaid, out of business, a debtor, not in custody.
THIS Twenty-seventh day of February, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-four,
four. Upon the application of William Sefton Moorhouse, of Counsel for the said Petitioner, Rowland Davis, after reading the said Petition, purporting to be signed by the said Petitioner, such debtor as aforesaid, and to be concurred in by Thomas Cook, of Christchurch, in the said Province of Canterbury, butcher, a Creditor to the extent of not less than fifty pounds sterling in the whole, and also the affidavit of the said Rowland Davis, filed the Twenty-fourth day of February inst., pursuant to the said Act, and re-sworn this day. This Court being satisfied of the truth of the matters contained in the said Petition, doth hereby grant an ad interim order of Sequestration of the Estate and Effects of the said Rowland Davis, and doth direct that the Estate and Effects of the said Rowland Davis be taken and held by Henry Fowle Seager, of Christchurch, Printer, as receiver under the said Act, hereby appointed by the Court, subject to such further order of the Court as may be made under or in pursuance of this Act. And this Court doth hereby appoint the first day of sittings of this Court, pursuant to the said Act, after the seventeenth of next month, for the hearing of such Petition, and the proof of debts and claims of Creditors, at this Court House, Christchurch, aforesaid. And this Court doth also further order and grant an ad interim order of protection to protect the person and estate of the said Rowland Davis from arrest, execution, or other legal process, until further order of this Court.

THIS Fifteenth day of December, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.
Upon the application of Mr. Slater of Counsel for the said Debtor, and Mr. Harston of Counsel for the said Petitioner, and upon reading the order made the seventeenth day of November last past, and affidavit of publication in the ‘Provincial Government Gazette’ and in a local newspaper of the day of hearing fourteen days before such day of hearing, filed on the Sixteenth day of November last, and certain minutes of a meeting of Creditors convened pursuant to such order filed on the fourth instant, the said Debtor appearing and attending in person upon the examination of the Debtor upon oath, pursuant to the said Act.
