PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of Canterbury, intituled “The Sheep Ordinance Amendment Ordinance, 1861,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for sheep landed at the Port of Lyttelton to be driven to a distance not exceeding twenty miles from the said Port before being dressed, as provided by the said Ordinance, if they shall be so driven for the purpose of being dressed at some place specially appointed for the purpose by the Superintendent, by notice in the Provincial Government Gazette: Now, therefore, I, SAMUEL BEALEY, the Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, do hereby, for the purpose aforesaid, proclaim and appoint the Sheep Dipping Apparatus and enclosure erected by Messrs. Burnell, Bennett, and Sprot, on the Riccarton Road, being a place within twenty miles from the said Port of Lyttelton, to be a place to which sheep landed in Lyttelton may be driven to be dressed, in accordance with the terms of the first clause of the above recited Ordinance.

Given under my hand at Christchurch, this Thirteenth day of February, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-four.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has made the following Reserves, temporarily, until the next Session of the Provincial Council, for Railway Purposes, viz:—

No. 290, in red.—Two thousand five hundred and sixty acres, more or less, having 2 miles and 3 chains frontage to the northern bank of the Rangitata, and extending back northerly a distance on the average of 2 miles. The line of Railway 8 chains wide, as indicated on the plan of the Railway Commissioners, dated February 6th, 1864, being the centre of this Reserve; subject to the said line of Railway, freehold land, and roads.

No. 291, in red.—Two thousand five hundred and sixty acres, more or less, being bounded on the northward by the southern bank of the Rangitata, on the southward by the northern bank of the Rangitata Creek, and on the westward and eastward by lines parallel to, and 81 chains 50 links distant from the centre line of the Railway Reserve, 8 chains wide; subject to the said line of Railway, freehold land, and roads.

No. 293, in red.—Two thousand five hundred and sixty acres, having frontage of 2 miles and 3 chains to the southern bank of the Rangitata Creek, and extending back southerly a distance on the average of 2 miles. The line of Railway 8 chains wide, as indicated on the plan of the Railway Commissioners, dated February 6th, 1864, being the centre of this Reserve; subject to the said line of Railway, freehold land, and roads.
