CANTERBURY DISTRICT.
In the matter of "The Debtors’ and Creditors’ Act, 1862;" and
In the matter of the petition of Alfred George Rich, of Leithfield, in the Province of Canterbury, civil engineer, debtor, not in custody.
IN CHAMBERS:
This Twenty-eighth day of September, 1864.
UPON the application of Mr. Moorhouse, of counsel for the said petitioner, Alfred George Rich, after reading the said petition, purporting to be signed by the said petitioner, such debtor as aforesaid, and to be concurred in by Augustus Frederick Noel Blakiston, of Christchurch, in the province aforesaid, gentleman, a creditor to the extent of not less than fifty pounds sterling in the whole, and also certain schedules, and also an affidavit of the said Alfred George Rich, to the said petition annexed and therewith filed on the Twenty-sixth day of September instant, pursuant to the said Act, this Court being satisfied of the truth of the matters contained in the said petition, doth hereby grant an ad interim order of sequestration of the estate and effects of the said Alfred George Rich, and doth direct that the estate and effects of the said Alfred George Rich be taken and held by Henry Fowle Seager, of Christchurch, aforesaid, printer, as Receiver under the said Act, hereby appointed by the Court, subject to such further order of the Court as may be made under or in pursuance of the said Act: and this Court doth hereby appoint Tuesday the Fifteenth day of November next, at eleven o’clock in the forenoon, for the hearing of such petition and the proofs of debts and claims of creditors, at the Court-house, Christchurch, aforesaid; and this Court doth also further order and grant an ad interim order of protection to protect the person and estate of the said Alfred George Rich from arrest, execution, and other legal process, until further orders of the Court.
