  2. To provide not less than twenty beds for travellers, in not less than twelve separate bed-rooms.

  3. To provide a shed sufficiently weather-tight and fit for the accommodation of at least twenty horses.

  1. NOT to keep a lamp burning at night outside the house.

Conditions 9, 10 and 11, same as Giggs’s.

  1. Conditions regarding the Ferry over the Rakaia to stand as per special agreement with the Provincial Government, dated 5th July, 1860; and especially the Licensees shall keep a ferry boat or boats to be used upon the river Rakaia, the gear and all necessary fittings to render the same serviceable to be always maintained in good order and repair. The Licensees shall at all reasonable times and hours cross passengers, stock, and other goods at the prices named below:--Pedestrians, each 1s; horsemen, 2s 6d; drays and other vehicles, 5s; merchandise per ton, 10s; wool per bale, 1s; officers of the Supreme Court, magistrates, and police constables on duty, and prisoners, to be ferried free of charge. To afford every assistance in their power in directing strangers to a safe fording across the river.

  1. All the premises to be kept in good repair. To provide in his house, besides the tap-room, or room answering as such, one public and one private sitting-room.

The book to be open at all times to inspection by magistrates or the police, and to be sent to the clerk of the bench, at Lyttelton, a week before the Annual Licensing Meeting, for the purpose of being produced at that meeting.

  1. All the premises to be kept in good repair. To provide in his house, besides the tap-room, or room answering as such, one public and one private sitting-room.

  2. To provide not less than eight beds for travellers, in not less than four separate bed-rooms.

  3. To provide a shed sufficiently weather-tight and fit for the accommodation of at least six horses.

Conditions 4, 5, 6, and 7, same as Giggs’s.

  1. To keep a lamp burning, with two burners, from sunset to sunrise, giving a sufficiently bright light, and being so lighted as not to be visible from the northern bank of the Hurunui.

Conditions 9, 10, and 11, same as Giggs’s.

  1. To keep at all times a horse, for the conveyance of passengers across the Hurunui, between the hours of daylight, in summer and winter. The fares to be moderate. Officers of the Supreme Court, magistrates, and police constables on duty, and prisoners, to be ferried free of charge. To afford every assistance in his power in directing strangers to a safe fording across the river.
