Christchurch, March 15, 1864.

His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has made the following Reserves under the 19th clause of the Waste Land Regulations, for the purpose of constructing a Railway, commencing at the Christchurch Terminus of the Lyttelton and Christchurch Railway, and running from thence along the Railway Reserve as laid down on the plan annexed to the Report of the Railway Commissioners, dated the 6th day of February, 1864, to the River Waitangi; viz.—

No. 287 in red.—About five thousand acres, being a strip of land forty chains wide, extending from the thirty-second mile post on the present Road and Railway Reserve to the crossing of the Rakaia, midway between the cabbage-tree and the present ferry, and thence to a point forty chains south of the fifty-first mile post; the said line being the western boundary of this Reserve of forty chains wide.

No. 288 in red.—About one thousand two hundred and eighty acres, situate on the north bank of the Rakaia; bounded on the south by the Rakaia, on the east by the Ferry Reserve, now held by Flowers; on the west by a line at right angles to the river, and on the north by a line parallel to and distant one mile from the river.

No. 290 in red.—Two thousand five hundred and sixty acres, more or less, having 2 miles and 3 chains frontage to the northern bank of the Rangitata, and extending back northerly a distance on the average of 2 miles. The line of Railway 3 chains wide, as indicated on the plan of the Railway Commissioners, dated February 6th, 1864, being the centre of this Reserve; subject to the said line of Railway, and roads.

No. 291 in red.—Two thousand five hundred and sixty acres, more or less, being bounded on the northward by the southern bank of the Rangitata, on the southward by the northern bank of the Rangitata Creek, and on the westward and eastward by lines parallel to, and 81 chains 50 links distant from the centre line of the Railway Reserve, 3 chains wide; subject to the said line of Railway, and roads.

No. 293 in red.—Two thousand five hundred and sixty acres, having frontage of 2 miles and 8 chains to the southern bank of the Rangitata Creek, and extending back southerly a distance on the average of 2 miles. The line of Railway 3 chains wide, as indicated on the plan of the Railway Commissioners, dated February 6th, 1864, being the centre of this Reserve; subject to the said line of Railway, and roads.

No. 294 in red.—Two thousand five hundred and sixty acres, more or less, having frontage of 2 miles and 3 chains to the northern bank of the Waitangi River, and running back northerly a distance on the average
