ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH OFFICES.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Christchurch, 31st March, 1863.

THE Offices in Christchurch and Lyttelton will be open Daily for business from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; on Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 10.30 p.m., and from 5 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.

On the Arrival of Mails, Messages can be sent from Lyttelton at other hours than the above, by calling the Officer residing on the premises, when double rates will be charged.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that in compliance with the "Slaughter-house Ordinance, Session VIII., No. 5, 1847," and in pursuance of the powers vested in him by the "Empowering Ordinance, Session II., No. 2," he has been pleased to appoint the following persons to be Inspectors of Slaughter-houses, and of Cattle intended for Slaughter, for the several districts set opposite their names:—

George C. Spray........ Port Lyttelton.
James M’Ennis........ Kaiapoi.
B. T. Missen........ Rangiora.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that in future all Applications for Assisted Passages from England, with the exception of those made at Timaru, shall be received and decided at Christchurch.

Christchurch, 27th April, 1863.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified for public information, that in pursuance of the powers vested in him by clause 19 of the Waste Land Regulations, now in force within the Province of Canterbury, he has made the following Reserves of Land, temporarily, until the next session of the Provincial Council:—

No. 272, in red, 640 acres, more or less, being a block of land having about one mile frontage to the sea in Jackson’s Bay, and extending back on the average to the south-eastward one mile, being at the mouth of a river running into the bay, for the purposes of a Township.

No. 273, in red, 20 acres in the Mandesille District, between rural section No. 1083 and the North Branch of the Waimakariri, for the purposes of a Gravel Pit.

has been appointed by His Excellency the Governor to be Revising Officer for the Electoral Districts of Cheviot, Kaiapoi, Avon, Heathcote, Ellesmere, City of Christchurch, Town of Lyttelton, Akaroa and Timaru, in the Province of Canterbury.

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC.

WHEREAS Henry Wilson of Waitangi Ferry has this day, at Timaru, convicted before a Bench of Magistrates for not complying with the conditions of his license, and was then sentenced to lose his license,

I hereby give notice that Henry Wilson’s license is cancelled accordingly.

Given under my hand at Timaru, this Seventh day of April, 1863.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that, by proclamation issued by His Excellency the Governor, dated the 13th day of April, 1863, the following person has been declared to have come within the operation of "The Naturalization Act, 1858," viz:—

from the 6th day of March, 1863, Native of Germany, sawyer; residence, Woodend, in the Province of Canterbury.
