CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL.

BY-LAWS in pursuance of the Christchurch
City Council Ordinance, 1862.
Section 47.

No. 1.—The Owner or Occupier of every
dwelling-house within the city shall, at such
times as shall be appointed in that behalf by
the Council, deliver to the Contractors en-
gaged by the Council to remove house refuse,
pursuant to Section 66 of the Christchurch
City Council Ordinance, all such refuse in
some convenient receptacle, so as to facilitate
the speedy and effectual removal of the same;
and in case such receptacle should be found
by the Council or its Officers to be incon-
venient or unfit for the purpose aforesaid, then,
in some receptacle constructed in all things
to the satisfaction of the Council, within one
week after written notice to that effect; and
if in any way such Occupier shall fail to comply
with the provision of this by-law, he
shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding
(£10) ten pounds for any neglect or breach
thereof.

Made by the Council, at a meeting held on
the 7th day of December, 1863.

PUBLIC NOTICE.

NOTICE is hereby given, that, in pursu-
uance of the “Public House Ordi-
nance, 1863,” a Quarterly Meeting of the
Justices of the Peace will be held at the
Resident Magistrates’ Courts at Christ-
church, Lyttelton, and Akaroa, on the
5th day of January next, at the hour of
eleven o’clock in the forenoon, for the pur-
pose of considering applications for Public
House Licenses for the Districts of Christ-
church, Lyttelton, Kaiapoi, and Akaroa. The
applications for Licenses for the Kaiapoi
District will be considered on the same day,
at the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Christ-
church.

The following applications have been re-
ceived:—

  • Adley, Antill Alfred; Hotel license; Oxford Hotel, Colombo-street, Christchurch.
  • Angus, George; Conditional; House on top of Bridle-path.
  • Fairhurst, Isaac Normanton; General; Oriental Billiard Rooms, High-street, Christchurch.
