PUBLIC NOTICE.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,_
Christchurch, 12th October, 1863.
HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it
to be notified that the following
Ordinance, passed by the Provincial Council,
entituled

“THE PASSENGER ORDINANCE”

having been presented to him, he has, on
behalf of His Excellency the Governor, been
pleased to withhold his assent to the same.

PUBLIC NOTICE.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Christchurch, 15th October, 1863.
HIS Honor the Superintendent directs
it to be notified that THURSDAY, the
22nd instant, being the day appointed for the
Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Asso-
ciation’s General Exhibition, will be observed
as a Holiday, and that the Public Offices
will be closed on that day.

PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS, by an Act of the General
Assembly of New Zealand, passed in
the twenty-second year of the reign of Her
Majesty Queen Victoria, entituled the “Pro-
vincial Reserved Bills Act, 1858,” it was

enacted that whenever any Bill shall have
been passed by the Provincial Council of may
Province, and shall have been reserved by
the Superintendent for the signification of the
Governor’s pleasure thereon, such Bill shall
not have any force or authority within the
said Province, until the Superintendent shall
signify, either by speech or message to the
Provincial Council, or by proclamation in
the ‘Government Gazette’ of the said Pro-
vince, that such Bill has been laid before
the Governor, and that the Governor has
assented to the same. And whereas an
Ordinance entituled “the Canterbury Marine
Boards Ordinance, 1863” was passed by the
Superintendent and Provincial Council of
the Province of Canterbury, and the same
was reserved by the Superintendent of the
said Province for the assent of His Excel-
lency the Governor: Now therefore I,
SAMUEL BEALEY, Superintendent of the
Province of Canterbury aforesaid, do pro-
claim and declare that the aforesaid Ordi-
nance has been laid before His Excellency
the Governor, and that His Excellency has
assented to the same.

Given under my hand, at Christchurch,
the 12th day of October, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-three.
