Charles Clifford, Esq. ... To be a Member of the Legislative Council.

Native Department

Donald McLean, Esq. ... Chief Commissioner of Native Reserves.

Customs Department

Thomas Beckham, Esq. ... Collector of Customs at Nelson.

John Johnson, Esq. ... Comptroller of Customs at Lyttelton.

Post Office

William H. Eyes, Esq. ... Postmaster at New Plymouth.

Education

Rev. Thomas Buddle ... Member of the Board of Education for the Province of New Ulster.

Public Works

James Stewart, Esq. ... Clerk of Works at Wellington.

The Governor directs it to be notified, that the undermentioned persons have been appointed Justices of the Peace for the Colony of New Zealand:

John Logan Campbell, Esq., Auckland
William Brown, Esq., Auckland

Province of New Munster

William Fitzherbert, Esq., Wellington
William Mein Smith, Esq., Wellington
George Hunter, Esq., Wellington

TENDERS.

Public Works Department

Tenders will be received at this office until noon of Wednesday, the 7th day of February, 1856, for the supply of:

  1. Fifty thousand bricks for the New Ulster Provincial Government buildings...
  2. One hundred loads of building stone for the Wellington Gaol...

Tenders must be addressed to the Colonial Secretary, and endorsed on the outside "Tender for [specify item]."
