NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS.
Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Christchurch, 19th March, 1862.
THE Provincial Government will be prepared on Tuesday, April 8th, to receive Tenders for the following Works:—
CEMETERY AND HORSE SHOE LAKE ROAD—
Forming and Metalling.
SLAUGHTER HOUSE ROAD—
Improving and Metalling.
HAREWOOD ROAD—
Forming and Metalling from Stokes’ Bridge.
HALSEWELL JUNCTION ROAD—
Forming and Metalling.
Specifications of the above Works may be seen on and after Tuesday, March 25, at the Office of Public Works, Christchurch.
Tenders to be sent in to the Provincial Secretary’s Office, Christchurch, on or before Noon on Tuesday, April 8th, when parties tendering must be in attendance with their sureties.
The Government will not be bound to accept the lowest or any Tender.

KAIAPOI TOWN.
Forming Fuller-street from Piraki-street to the North Road.
Forming Road from White’s Bridge to Wright’s Corner.
Forming Jones-street from Charles-street to Sewell-street.
Forming Sewell-street from North Road to Beswick-street.
Specifications of the above Works can be seen at the Office of Public Works in Christchurch, on and after Tuesday, March 25th.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that by Proclamations issued by His Excellency the Governor, and dated the 4th of January and 6th of March, 1862, the following persons have been declared to have come within the operation of “The Naturalization Act, 1858,” viz.:—
ALEXANDER PHILLIPS,
from the 29th day of November, 1861; native of the United States of America; settler; residence, Christchurch, Province of Canterbury; and
JOSEPH FUCHS,
from the 3rd of February, 1862; native of Prussia; cabinet-maker; residence, Christchurch, in the Province of Canterbury.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified for public information that, in pursuance of the powers vested in him by the Waste Lands Regulations now in force within the Province of Canterbury, he has made the following Reserve of Land for public purposes, temporarily, until the next public session of the Provincial Council, viz.:—
No. 205, in red.—640 acres, more or less, situate near Lake Pearson, in the Valley of the Upper Waimakariri, commencing at the point where the road to Pearson’s crosses the Cragieburn, extending along the road South-westerly a distance of about 80 chains, and extending to a depth of 40 chains on each side of the road, and numbered 205 in red.

TEKAPO FERRY, MOUNT COOK DISTRICT.
NOTICE.
Provincial Secretary’s Office,
March 20, 1862.
THE Provincial Government have entered into an arrangement with Mr. John Hay, Stock-owner, Lake Tekapo, to conduct a Ferry across the stream issuing from the Lake, for the period of one year, dating from the 8th day of March, 1862.
Mr. Hay is entitled to make the following charges:—

Foot passengers......... 1 0 each
Horsemen............... 2 6 each
Drays.................. 5 0 each
Merchandize............ 10 0 per ton
Wool................... 1 0 per bale.
Stock as per special agreement with the owner.
