HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified for public information that, in pursuance of the powers vested in him by the Waste Lands Regulations, he has made the following Reserves of Land for the uses of the Provincial Government and for other public purposes, temporarily, until the next session of the Provincial Council, viz.:-

No. 203, in red.—Sections Nos. 131, 132, 133, 134, 135, and 136, in and fronting on North Street; and Sections 147 and 148, in and fronting on Heaton Street, in the Town of Timaru.

No. 204, in red.—Two acres two roods, being bounded on the north by North Street, on the east by Rose Street, on the south by Heaton Street, and on the west by the Boulevard, on the Town Boundary in the Town of Timaru.

SHIP “MATOAKA.”

Lyttelton, 10th February, 1862.

The Commissioners report that they visited the ship Matoaka, and found all the immigrants in good health, and the arrangements generally satisfactory.

The position of the Female Hospital was objectionable, being very dark, imperfectly ventilated, and close to one of the closets.

The arrangements for cooking were excellent, and the fresh water distilling apparatus most worthy of commendation.

CUSTOMS NOTICE.

Custom House, Lyttelton,
27th January, 1862.

A BUILDING, to be known as “Aikman’s Bonding Warehouse,” recently erected by Messrs. J. C. Aikman and Co., at their Wharf, on the Heathcote River, near Christchurch Quay, has, under authority of the Honorable Commissioner of Customs, been this day provisionally approved by me as a Special Warehouse for the Reception of Goods under Bond for the Payment of Duties.

Goods will be removable from the Lyttelton warehouses to Aikman’s either by sea or by inland carriage, under special bond and regulation; but those goods only which have been already duly warehoused at Lyttelton will be received under the Crown’s lock, and for delivery for home consumption only.
