TYLER and BROWN, River Waitangi.

  1. Same as William Stranks’.
  2. Not less than eight beds for travellers in not less than four separate bed-rooms.
  3. To provide a shed sufficiently weather-tight, and fit for the accommodation of at least six horses.
    4, 5, 6, 7, same as in William Stranks’.
  4. To keep a lamp burning with two burners from sunset to sunrise, giving a sufficiently bright light, and being so placed as not to be visible from the south bank of the river Waitangi.
    10, 11, 12. Same as William Stranks’.
  5. To keep at all times a safe ferry-boat (punt) in good working order, and ready for conveyance of passengers across the Waitangi at all reasonable times between the hours of sunrise and sunset. The licensees shall at all reasonable times cross passengers, stock, and other goods, at the following prices:

Pedestrians, each ... 2s. 0d.
Horsemen ... 5s. 0d.
Drays and other vehicles ... 10s. 0d.
Merchandise, per ton ... 20s. 0d.
Wool, per bale ... 2s. 0d.

Officers of the Supreme Court, magistrates, and police constables on duty and prisoners, to be ferried free of charge. To afford every assistance in his power in directing strangers to a safe fording across the river.

The remaining conditions, Nos. 14 and following, the same as William Stranks’.

MARSHALL, ROBERT, River Rangitata, South Bank.

  1. All the premises to be kept in good repair. To provide in his house, besides the tap-room or room answering as such, one public sitting-room.
  2. Not less than six beds in not less than two separate bedrooms.
  3. To provide a shed sufficiently weather-tight, and fit for the accommodation of at least six horses.
  4. The same as William Stranks’.
  5. To keep at all times a proper supply of oats and oaten or grass hay. Oats to be charged for to travellers at not more than 9d. per imperial quart measure. To provide a stamped quart measure, and always to serve out oats therewith.
  6. Nil.
    9, 10, 11, 12. Same as William Stranks’.
  7. Conditions regarding the ferry over the Rangitata to stand as per special contract with the Provincial Government.

GIBBS, GEORGE, “Accommodation House,” the Point.

  1. All the premises to be kept in good repair. To provide in his house, besides the tap-room or room answering as such, one public sitting-room.
  2. Not less than six beds in not less than two separate bedrooms.
  3. To provide a shed sufficiently weather-tight, and fit for the accommodation of at least six horses.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the Visitors’ Book and Public-house Ordinance required by the Bench of Magistrates at the last Licensing Meeting are now ready, and can be obtained on application to this Office, on payment of the sum of one guinea.

TENDERS are invited for a Trigonometrical and Topographical Survey of the country on the sea coast, between the rivers Pareora and Waitangi.

A specification may be seen on application to the Chief Surveyor, at the Land Office, Christchurch.

Sealed Tenders, endorsed “Tender for Survey,” to be forwarded to the Provincial Secretary, by Noon, on Saturday, the 30th August, 1862.

The Provincial Government will not necessarily accept the lowest or any tender.
