PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS, by an Ordinance passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of Canterbury, entitled "The Sheep Ordinance Amendment Ordinance, 1861," it is enacted that the Superintendent may, by notice in the "Provincial Government Gazette," appoint some place for the purpose of dressing sheep landed at the Port of Lyttelton: Now therefore I, William Sefton Moorhouse, the Superintendent of the said Province, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the said recited Ordinance, do hereby proclaim and appoint Coringa Station, on the south bank of the Waimakariri, to be the place at which Sheep Landed in Lyttelton shall be Dressed in accordance with the terms of the first clause of the above recited Ordinance.

Given under my hand, at Christchurch, this Thirteenth day of December, in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty-one.

N O T I C E.

MR. E. M. TEMPLER, of Coringa Station, has arranged with the Provincial Government to afford the accommodation required for Dressing Sheep, and is entitled to charge according to the following scale:—For 1000 sheep, at 13d. per sheep; every additional sheep above 1000, at 9d. per sheep.

IT is hereby notified for general information that the Ferry Reserve, on the North Bank of the Ashburton, has been Leased to Mr. William Turton for a term of Three Years from the 8th July, 1861, with the privilege of cutting any wood required for building, fencing, or fuel on any Government lands in Talbot Forest, free of charge for license.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified for public information that, in pursuance of the powers vested in him by the Waste Lands Regulations, now in force within the Province of Canterbury, he has made the following Reserves of Land for the uses of the Provincial Government, and for other public purposes temporarily, until confirmation by the Provincial Council, viz.:—

No. 199, in red.—Six Miles on the River Hawkins, commencing at the twenty-second mile, and extending to the twenty-eighth mile, and half a mile on each bank of the River.

  • Appropriated for Sheep Quarantine on the Hurunui, made several years ago.
