THE following gentlemen have been appointed by His Excellency the Governor as Commissioners in the Province of Canterbury for the International Exhibition of 1862:—

ELECTION NOTICE.
PROVINCE OF CANTERBURY.
IN pursuance of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, entitled "The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858," and of another Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, entitled "The Provincial Elections Act, 1858," I, HENRY GODFREY GOULAND, Principal Returning Officer for the Province of Canterbury, do hereby give notice, that by virtue of a Writ bearing date the 31st day of July, 1861, issued under the hand of His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, an Election will be held for the Return of a qualified person to serve as Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury; and that the Nomination of Candidates will take place at the Town Hall, Christchurch, on FRIDAY, the 30th day of August, 1861, at Noon; and on TUESDAY, the 10th day of September, 1861.
The following places are Polling places for the Province of Canterbury:—

The Resident Magistrate's Court-house, Lyttelton
The Resident Magistrate's Court-house, Kaiapoi
The School-room, Rangiora
The School-house, Papanui

IN pursuance of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, entitled "The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858," and of another Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, entitled "The Provincial Elections Act, 1858," I, HENRY GODFREY GOULAND, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of the Town of Christchurch, do hereby give notice, that by virtue of a Writ bearing date the 31st day of July, 1861, issued under the hand of His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, an Election will be held for the Return of Four qualified persons to serve as Members of the Provincial Council for the said Electoral District; and that the Nomination of Candidates will take place at the Town Hall, Christchurch, on FRIDAY, the 30th day of August, 1861, at Noon; and that the Poll (if necessary) will be taken on SATURDAY, the 31st day of August, 1861.

IN pursuance of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, entitled "The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858," and of another Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, entitled "The Provincial Elections Act, 1858," I, HENRY GODFREY GOULAND, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of the Town of Lyttelton, do hereby give notice, that by virtue of a Writ bearing date the 31st day of July, 1861, issued under the hand of His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, an Election will be held for the Return of Four qualified persons to serve as Members of the Provincial Council, for the said Electoral District; and that the Nomination of Candidates will take place at the Resident Magistrate's Court-house, Lyttelton, on MONDAY, the 26th day of August, 1861, at Noon; and that the Poll (if necessary) will be taken on TUESDAY, the 27th day of August, 1861.
The following place is a Polling place for the Electoral District of the Town of Lyttelton:—
