WARD, JOSEPH, Rangitata or Alford River, "Ward’s Rangitata Accommodation House"—

1. All the premises to be kept in good repair. To provide in his house besides the tap-room, or room answering as such, one public and one private sitting-room.

2. Not less than ten beds for travellers, in not less than three separate bed-rooms.

3. To provide a shed sufficiently weather-tight and fit for the accommodation of at least six horses.

13. To provide a horse, and be ready at all reasonable times between the hours of sunrise and sunset to convey passengers across the River Rangitata on horseback, at a charge not exceeding 2s. 6d. each. To direct drivers of drays and other vehicles, and, if required, to accompany them across the River at a charge of 2s. 6d. each. To erect and maintain a flag-pole, 40 feet in height, and keep a sufficiently large flag flying thereon daily, from sunrise to sunset. The pole to be erected on the Terrace immediately above the house so as to indicate the fording-place to persons arriving from the northward. Officers of the Supreme Court, Magistrates, and Police Constables on duty, and prisoners to be ferried free of charge. To afford every assistance in his power in directing strangers to a safe fording across the river.

18. To keep at all times a safe ferry boat (punt) in good working order, and ready for conveyance of passengers across the Waitangi at all reasonable times between the hours of sunrise and sunset. The fare for passengers, stock, sheep, drays, horses, &c., to be at double the rates charged at Dunford’s Ferry on the Rakaia, subject to revision at the next Annual Licensing Meeting. Officers of the Supreme Court, Magistrates, and Police Constables on duty, and prisoners to be ferried free of charge.

ANDERSEN, JOHN, Akaroa Harbour, Andersen’s "Akaroa Accommodation House"—

1. All the premises to be kept in good repair. To provide in his house besides the tap-room, or room answering as such, one public and one private sitting-room.

2. Not less than six beds for travellers, in not less than four separate bed-rooms.

3. To provide a shed sufficiently weather-tight and fit for the accommodation of at least two horses.

4. At all times to keep a proper supply of water for the house, and for horses and cattle.

5. To keep at all times a proper supply of oats, and oaten or grass hay, or to provide pasturage in lieu thereof. Oats to be charged for to travellers at not more than 6d. per quart measure.

6. Nil.

13. To keep at all times a safe ferry boat in good working order, and ready for conveyance of passengers between the town of Akaroa and the Head of the Harbour, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. from October to March, and between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. from April to September. The fare for passengers to be—5s. for one passenger, and 2s. 6d. per head for more than one passenger. Officers of the Supreme Court, Magistrates, and Police Constables on duty, and prisoners to be ferried free of charge.

WILSON, HENRY, River Waitangi, "Wilson’s Waitangi Accommodation House"—

1. All the premises to be kept in good repair. To provide in his house besides the tap-room, or room answering as such, one public and one private sitting-room.

3. To provide a shed sufficiently weather-tight and fit for the accommodation of at least six horses.
