Gentlemen, feeling confident that you will
enter upon the serious duties of this special
session with a determination to rigidly exa-
mine every circumstance surrounding and
affecting the subject to be discussed, and
hoping that our united labours may, by God’s
blessing, be productive of that prosperity to
the province and colony which it is our func-
tion to foster and promote; I have now to
declare this Council duly opened for the
despatch of business.

to be notified that he has appointed
the undermentioned gentlemen to be Inspec-
tors of Sheep for the Province of Canterbury,
instead of for the Northern and Southern
districts, as formerly, viz.—
THOMAS KINNERSLEY ADAMS, Esq.,
and
PHILIP BAKER BOULTON, Esq.,
and directs that Mr. Boulton shall, until
further notice in the Provincial Govern-
ment Gazette, change his late district with Mr.
Adams, and undertake the inspection of
sheep in the Northern District, as formerly
defined for carrying out the provisions of the
Sheep Ordinance, and that Mr. Adams shall
enter upon the inspection of the Southern
District, as heretofore defined for the pur-
poses of the said Ordinance, and lately under
the charge of Mr. Boulton.

I, WILLIAM SEFTON MOORHOUSE, Su-
perintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in
virtue of the powers vested in me by the
43rd clause of the Waste Lands’ Regulations
now in force within the said Province, do
hereby reserve from sale until the 30th day
of September next ensuing, the several por-
tions of land hereafter described, that is to
say:—
Twenty acres at Harewood Forest, having
frontage 10 chains to the road south-
easterly of section 1786, and running
back north-westerly adjoining the said
section a distance of 20 chains, in a
rectangular block, and numbered 2376.
Twenty acres at Harewood Forest, north-
west of and adjoining section 1814,
bounded on the south-west and north-
east by the said section, and on the
north-west by a line parallel to the
south-east boundary line, so as to in-
clude the above quantity, and numbered
2377.
Twenty acres at Harewood Forest, bounded
on the north by a road south of section
1749, on the west by section 1912, on
the south by the said road...
