Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Christchurch, November 27, 1860.
His Honor the Superintendent directs it
to be notified for public information,
that in pursuance of the powers vested in
him by the Waste Lands Regulations now
in force within the Province of Canterbury,
he has made the following Reserve of Land for
the uses of the Provincial Government, and
for other public purposes, temporarily,
until the next session of the Provincial
Council, viz:
On the west coast on the south bank of the
Grey, about four or five miles from the
mouth of the river, extending along the
bank about four miles, and back about
two miles along a creek from Lake Brunner, containing 5000 acres more or
less, and numbered 172 in red on the
maps of the Chief Surveyor at Christchurch, for a Coal Field.

viz:
One acre, more or less, situate at the cross
roads on the line drawn between trig.
stations, M 23 and M 30, in the Mandeville district, and numbered 171 in red.

Ten acres at Pigeon Bay, bounded on the
north by a road south of 2311, on the
south by a creek, on the east by section
170 and the road reserved along the
beach, extending westerly between the
creek and the first-mentioned road so
as to include the above quantity, and
numbered 171 in red, for Church and
other purposes connected therewith.
