Public Notice.

NOTICE is hereby given that the conditions of Sale not having been complied with in respect of Lot 167 of the Christchurch Town Reserves which was put up to auction on the 4th inst., the same will be again submitted to public competition at the White Hart Hotel, Christchurch, on Friday the 21st inst. at noon.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified for public information, that, in pursuance of the powers vested in him by the Waste Lands\' Regulations now in force within the Province of Canterbury, he has made the following reserve of land for the use of the Provincial Government and for other public purposes, temporarily, until the next Session of the Provincial Councilβ€”

Ten acres, having ten chains frontage to the Springs track, and extending back ten chains, adjoining and south-west of section 275, subject to Pre-emptive Right 139.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs the following notification to be Published for general information.

I, WILLIAM SEFTON MOORHOUSE, the Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by the 43rd clause of the Waste Lands\' Regulations now in force within the said Province, do hereby reserve from sale the portion of land hereinafter described, that is to say,β€”

20 acres, situate at Akaroa, commencing at the edge of the bush where the Long Bay road cuts it, and across north-easterly to the Grehan-road, extending south-easterly between the roads, subject to Pre-emptive Right No. 254.

The whole of such land, or such part thereof as the Waste Lands\' Board shall adjudge, to be granted to Henry Funnell, by way of payment for work done on the roadsin the town of Akaroa, in accordance with a contract duly approved, until the 21st day of July, 1858.

PROVINCE OF CANTERBURY.

WHEREAS a Writ under the hand of Thomas Gore Browne, Esq., Companion of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Islands of New Zealand, &c., &c., bearing date the 10th day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight, hath been directed to me, Charles Christopher Bowen, Esq., as Returning-Officer for the Town of Lyttelton, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected, by and from amongst the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, ONE PERSON to serve as a Member of the House of Representatives for the said town of Lyttelton. Now, therefore, I, the said Charles Christopher Bowen, Esquire, Returning-Officer for the said town of Lyttelton, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give notice that a public meeting of the electors of the said town of Lyttelton will be holden in the Town Hall, in the said town of Lyttelton, on Friday, the 28th twenty eighth day of May instant, at noon, for the purpose of nominating one person to serve as a Member of the House of Representatives for the said town of Lyttelton; and in the event of a poll being demanded for the candidates, or any of them, such polling shall take place on Saturday, the 29th day of
