  1. No smoking shall be allowed at
    any time within the Barracks.
  2. All cooking shall be done at such
    times and in such manner as shall be di-
    rected by the person in charge of the
    Barracks.
  3. The Yard and Cooking House
    must be cleaned every day by the
    single men, who will perform this duty
    in turn.
  4. All Immigrants accommodated in
    the Barracks must return thither by 9
    o'clock P.M., at which time the Bar-
    racks will be closed for the night.
  5. No light shall be kept burning in
    any room in the Barracks after 9 o'clock
    P.M. except by order of the Immigration
    Officer.
  6. If any person shall violate these
    Rules, or refuse to obey the instruc-
    tions of the Immigration Officer or
    other person in charge of the Barracks,
    or shall be guilty of any disorderly or
    offensive conduct, it shall be found
    under the influence of liquor, he will
    be immediately discharged from the
    Barracks and not again allowed to enter
    them.
  7. Any Immigrant remaining in
    the Barracks after she have been or-
    dered by the Immigration Officer to quit
    will be charged at the rate of 3s. for
    every night during which he shall so
    remain.
  8. Any stranger refusing to quit
    the Barracks on being ordered to do
    so by proper authority will be given
    into the custody of the Police.

Proclamation.

I, WILLIAM SEFTON MOORHOUSE,
Superintendent of the Province of
Canterbury, do hereby, in pursuance of
the powers vested in me in that behalf,
by the Regulations now in force for the
disposal, sale, letting, and occupation of
the Waste Lands of the Crown within
the said Province, Proclaim and Declare
that the lands hereinafter described,
that is to say :-Three thousand acres
more or less, bounded on the north-east
by the main stream of the Hurunui,
from the Mound crossing to the junc-
tion of the Waitohi, on the south-east
and south by the Waitohi from its
junction with the Hurunui to the
point opposite, and due south of the
eastern end of the base line, and on
the westward by a line from the East-
ern end of the base line, to the
Mound crossing, shall be reserved tem-
porarily for the uses of the Provincial
Government and for other public pur-
poses.

HIS Honor the Superintendent di-
rects it to be notified for public
information that
MESSRS. MALLOCK & WALKER
have entered into an engagement with
the Provincial Government to lease the
foregoing reserve, together with the
dipping troughs, sheep yards, and other
buildings now in course of construction
on the south bank of the Hurunui,
and that all sheep introduced into this
Province across the North boundary
of the Province will be required to be
dressed at the troughs on this reserve.
Messrs. Mallock and Walker will find
all materials and labor necessary for
dressing the sheep, and are authorised
by the Provincial Government to charge
for evry flock a fee for the same of 1s.
per head for every head of sheep up
to 1,000 inclusive, and for all sheep in
one flock exceeding 1,000, a fee of 8d.
per head.
