Christchurch, 30th July, 1857.
HIS Honor the Superintendent having received information from the Post-master General of Victoria, that the English mails for Canterbury are made up in London, together with the Wellington mails, and are not opened at Melbourne, directs it to be notified that the notice, dated June 30th, offering a bonus to vessels for bringing down the mails from Melbourne to Port Victoria, is hereby cancelled: and that the Provincial Government has entered into a joint engagement with the Provincial Government of Wellington, whereby the mails of Canterbury will be brought to Wellington and immediately transmitted thence, in the same vessels, to Port Victoria, the vessels bringing the mails remaining in harbor forty-eight hours for the return mail.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that, with the advice of the Executive Council, he has cancelled the 6th paragraph of the Immigration Regulations published in the Gazette of the 20th instant, and has adopted the following in the place thereof, and further directs it to be published for general information.

Amended Immigration Regulation.
The Provincial Government are unable at present to state at what the rate of the passage money to the colony will be fixed; but all bills will be prepared on the supposition that it will amount to £20; should it be less, a proportional part of the bills will be remitted at the time of re-payment.
