Notes:
(a) Two-thirds of the net Customs Revenue are payable to the Province under instructions from His Excellency the Governor.
(b) The Post-Office Revenues are subject to a similar arrangement. The Postal receipts at the Lyttelton Office do not cover the expenses for this quarter.
(c) The whole of the Land Revenues, after deducting the payment to the New Zealand Company, and the expenses of the Land-Office, and of Surveys, is payable to the Province for the purposes of Immigration and Public Works, under instructions from His Excellency the Governor.
No returns have been received from the Land Department of the Revenue arising within the Canterbury block: no instructions having been received from the General Government for the disposal of these Revenues since the determination of the powers of the Canterbury Association for the sale of land.
No returns have been received from the late Commissioner of Crown Lands of the Revenue arising during the months of October and November, from that portion of the Province beyond the Canterbury block.
The Commissioner of Crown Lands has returned the revenues arising in the same portion of the Province during the month of December as "nil."
(d) The several branches of the Provincial Government at Akaroa are treated as one department for the purpose of account in consequence of the smallness of the expenditure.
J. W. HAMILTON,
Provincial Auditor.
