On admission was suffering from contusion of nose, and from scalp wounds varying in size from half-an-inch to an inch and a-half. None penetrating below the pericranium. No unfavourable symptoms presented until October 31, when the deceased was seized with shivering, followed by slight fever, and a tendency to coma. No erysipelas followed. Rapidly got weaker and died. Upon examining the brain extensive sub-arachnoid effusion was present, pia-mater much thickened. Brain was very firm and weighed 45ozs. Lungs were congested and parts almost putrid. Heart flabby. Liver large and yellowish. Left kidney soft. Inquest held. |
