38 M James Butler 45 Heart disease 1875 May 10 June 8 29 Admitted in a semi-comatose condition, and remained so to his death. Had heart disease of long standing. Heart was found hypertrophied. Left auricle much distended from layers of fibrin, resembling an aneurismal sac, aortic valves cartilaginous. Mitral puckered and ossified. Liver nutmeg. Right lung solidified.
39 F Harriett Andrews 13 Measles June 3 June 9 6 A case of suppressed measles, the eruption not showing until the day before she died. Had constant vomiting and diarrhoea. The eruption was extensive, and of a dark livid color.
40 M Alexander McKay 49 Fracture of left ankle compound May 15 June 12 28 Admitted for an un-united fracture of left femur and compound fracture of left ankle joint, the whole limb presenting a pitiable case, the health of the deceased being such that amputation of the hip-joint was out of the question. A large pyoemic abscess formed in the thigh. Immense suppuration ensued, and death by exhaustion.
41 M William Clegg 23 Syphilis 1874 Jan. 30 June 16 502 Admitted in bad state from syphilis. Pyoemia finally set in.
42 M John Cole 72 Heart disease 1875 Aug. 11 June 18 311 Admitted for heart disease of old standing. Dropsy followed, and he rapidly failed.
43 M Henry Cottis 45 Phthisis pulmonalis June 1 June 19 18 Admitted for phthisis and enlarged liver. Rapidly got weaker. Right lung one large cavern, and the pleura full of pus. Liver large and waxy. Heart enlarged and extensive pericarditis, pericardium lined with lymph, and a quantity of serum present.
44 M William Wilson 56 Hemiplegia June 14 June 19 5 Admitted for hemiplegia and stop of speech. Brain very soft; intense meningitis.
45 M Alexander Scott 35 Typhoid fever June 21 June 21 5 hours Admitted in a state of profound coma, pulse scarcely perceptible. The intestines were found studded with ulcers, many nearly through. Lungs were tubercular masses. Subarachnoid effusion.
46 M James Cassidy 35 Heart disease June 16 June 21 5 A case of heart disease with great dyspnoea, and constant vomiting. Heart weighed 2lbs. 4ozs. The stomach highly inflamed in patches of considerable size.
47 M Charles Smith 48 Phthisis pulmonalis 1873 June 14 July 2 748 An ordinary case of phthisis.
